Carve out your Thursdays in April!!!

Our Linocut Series is a 4-week introduction to one of the most versatile (and satisfying) printmaking processes. Each class will be focused on a different approach so you can explore the full range of what this medium can do.

Week 1 — Intro to Linocut
Learn the basics: carving tools, mark-making, and pulling your first prints

Week 2 — Multi-Block Printing
Build layered images using multiple blocks and colors

Week 3 — Reduction Printing
Carve, print, and carve again to create a single evolving block

Week 4 — Jigsaw Method
Cut and reassemble your block to print bold, interlocking color compositions

Each session is 2 hours, designed to be approachable, hands-on, and technique-focused. This is the perfect series if you’re new or want to expand your linocut vocabulary.

📍 Thursday evenings in April
All materials provided!

If you didn’t know already… North Carolina actually has 12 seasons.

And right now in Asheville you’re experiencing Season #4: The Spring of Deception. 🌸😅

It’s that magical time when it feels like spring… everyone gets excited… and then winter might randomly show back up next week. Maybe snow, maybe not.

As far as the Asheville weather forecast goes… that’s all I’ve got haha.

What a wonderful week we had at the studio hosting Dan Welden for the solar plate workshop. It was such a joy to learn from the originator of the technique, and we had an excellent group of participants!

We even screened a film about Dan and welcomed members of the community to join us for a conversation and learn more about his work and innovations in printmaking.

This is one we’ll remember for a long time. Thank you, Dan, and to his wonderful assistant and partner, Char, for making the workshop such a success. And to all of our students who made the week so special❣️
