🦌🖋️ For our next Returning Artist Feature, we are honored to welcome back Carolina Lebar. Unfortunately she lost several amazing original works with us in the flood, but that hasn’t held her back one bit - we are loving her new body of work featuring many magical Queens and Kings of the animal world!

Originally from Colombia, Carolina Lebar creates illustrations and paintings celebrating feminine beauty alongside wildlife — fur, fins, and feathers — rendered with breathtaking, highly detailed pencil work blended with soft acrylic glazes.  Her semeiotic work explores nature’s unintentional influence on humanity’s past civilizations and the mythologies, beliefs, and lore that followed.  Each piece begins with delicate pencil and graphite, building layer upon layer of depth, before acrylic or oil paint completes her vision.  🦉

The result is artwork that feels both ancient and alive — a quiet, beautiful meeting place between myth, nature, and the human spirit. In 2023, she launched her ongoing “Animal Kingdom” series, allowing her to explore her admiration and reverence for the majestic nature of animals.

What a week it has been. We are so full of gratitude for every single person who has shown up, celebrated with us, and helped us plant our roots in our new home. Today we close out GROW Weekend in the most beautiful way possible — and we have a LOT in store for you!

🌾 Asemic Writing & Mark-Making Using Nature Materials with the wonderful Mel Sozer — a one-hour workshop where you’ll slow down, tune in, and let nature speak through you. Using acrylic ink and brushes made from dried plants and foraged materials, you’ll explore asemic writing — a visual language without fixed words that belongs to everyone and to no one. No experience needed, just curiosity. Fair warning: acrylic ink is joyfully messy, so wear something you don’t mind staining! 🌿
🌹 Rose Ink Plant Pigment Workshop with Art Garden co-founder Annie Kyla Bennett — a two-hour workshop from 3–5pm at our studio space at 25 Carolina Lane. You’ll brew a stunning bright pink ink from rose petals, then paint and draw with your creation using fountain pens, glass pens, calligraphy brushes, and more. Additional artist-made inks — marigold, goldenrod, black walnut, avocado, and more — will be available for experimentation. Every participant leaves with fresh knowledge, their own bottle of rose ink, and all the paintings and drawings made during class. 🌸 (Need a sliding scale or work trade ticket? Day 3 - 🎭 🎟️ The day we officially unveil This Faerie Stage, our cute, intimate theatre with “Same Same but Different” — a dramatic conversation between two gay men of different generations, comparing life stories, with a Freaky Friday twist. A few tickets are still available at 🔗 in bio!

Today’s play is based on stories from performers’ Mountaine and Vinny’s lives, including the exploration of what it means to be close friends. Being vulnerable with each other (in front of an audience, of course) brings them to a dynamic shift. This is a serious comedy from two funny, deep-thinking and -feeling guys, who love bringing real life, with a healthy degree of fantasy, to the stage.

The show won the “Pushing the Boundaries of Storytelling” award at Asheville Fringe Arts Festival 2025.

Saturday May 9th, 7 - 9pm

*This is a fundraiser for the Art Garden Theatre to support Art Garden opening back up after the loss of its past location to hurricane Helene.

Our fundraiser ends on Friday, and we still have $3000 before we hit our goal. $3000 until we can make the MOST of our sponsor matching donations, dollar for dollar, to $15k. And at the end of the day, these are the people we are doing it for.

Our fabulous teachers have been with us through thick and thin - we wouldn't be who we are without them. We need to hit this fundraising goal so that we can continue to provide them with THE best teaching enviroment that we can.
