Due to factors outside of my control, like algorithms and politics and neuroses (that last one is maybe inside of my control), I only look at Facebook occasionally these days, and when I do Iām always like, oh wow, my profile picture is so upsetting. Weāre driving to Connecticut today, so I took the opportunity to take a lot of pictures of myself as new possible contenders (Iām not the one driving, donāt worry). You may cast your vote. Iāll never see comments, due to aforementioned neuroses, but please, discuss amongst yourselves, and maybe John will check back for me. It is, as ever, pretty interesting to be me! Iām 51 now, and thus officially done with my obligation to be āattractiveā (ā which was never my obligation, as it turns out. Young people today know that, but I never clued in: My 1980s brain always considered attractiveness to be, if not my part-time job, at least something that I had to appear to be appearing to think about a lot.) But now guess what? Done with that. āļø (The question ānow whatā sort of lingers in the air but letās just let it linger for the time being.) Anyway hereās my point: if youāve read this far, and looked at my pictures, then you probably know me, or at least you know who I am (hell yeah to having a stripper name! I have always been improbably popular on Facebook). And, if you know/think you might know/want to know me, can you please support my Asheville fm fundraiser, because, for lordās sake I just want those other DJs to think Iām cool like they are. Asheville FM has given me a virtual home on Wednesdays from 2-4 for coming up on two years now: The Leviathan radio show serves the needs of my underground rock musician friends very well, while simultaneously baffling my yoga friends and mildly upsetting my friend-friends. Whichever of these groups that you fall into, please donate. (If you are a hardcore right-winger, Iām glad to know you, but you should never listen to that station and you can go back to gazing at my newest art piece āPortraits 1-9. ā)The rest of you: 103.3, or Ashevillefm.org, depending on how far out of range you are, has some intimidatingly excellent music shows, and a lot of talk shows that range from the mildly to the extremely progressive. I mostly listen to the music shows, but do whatever you want. The main thing about it is, itās ALL non-corporate, unedited, non-algorithmic content, which is not only an interesting but a really rare thing. If you like art, you should support it. If you worry about corporate media, or AI, or trends towards non-humanization in general, this is also a good thing for you to support. In the past three years I have set down a lot of the heavy bu****it that Iāve been carrying for a bunch of years (see above) and this I believe has given me a lot of clarity about culture and about art. I think that Asheville FM is a shiny little diamond in this huge and increasingly polluted media world. Please support. Hereās the link. Thank you. And also, Iām interested in which profile picture you think I should use, kind of. I donāt know, you might have to cut and paste this link. Do it
