A note from the Director, Scott J Strasbaugh on The Mountaintop:
“My heart is full. Having the privilege of watching Robert Freemon portray the great Civil Rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ,and Lauren Baker play the equally strong and mysterious Camae, while they’re pouring their souls onto the stage in “The Mountaintop” has been an incredibly moving experience for me. We open next weekend so you get to see what I’ve been seeing (but with fancier lights, fine tuned sounds, costumes and a complete set)!”

Meet Robert Freemon who plays “Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr” in Stagecoach Theatre’s production of “The Mountaintop” by Katori Hall. Be sure to watch this gripping reimagining of April 3rd, 1968 inside the Lorraine Motel the day before Dr Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination.
When asked what it means to him about playing this character. Robert said,
“Playing one of the greatest orators America has ever known, one of the biggest American icons, a pillar in any conversation about civil rights… The ask in itself is almost unfair for any actor to attempt to recreate. But, I love how Katori Hall was able to really humanize what many consider a giant. A man with flaws, yet the weight of his impact was so heavy that it still leaves an imprint on everyone’s lives today. I am honored and humbled to be able to step into this, albeit fictional, yet very real role of the late great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Thank you to StageCoach Theatre for putting on this production and I pray the King Foundation and his legacy are pleased with our rendition of this amazing work.”

Meet Lauren “LB” Baker who plays “Camae” in StageCoach Theatre’s production of “The Mountaintop” by Katori Hall. Watch a gripping reimagination of events inside the Lorraine Motel the night before the assassination of the civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on April 3, 1968.
When asked what it means to her about playing this character. LB said,
“Being cast to this production means so much more than just another show to add in my theatre roster. It's a journey, better yet, an opportunity to share and challenge yourself and others around you. I feel Camae brings to life what it would be like to bring modern day to Dr. King. Yet has the beautiful way of reminding the audience that he has done so much. She represents what is still left to do, "pass on the baton". I'm forever grateful to StageCoach for giving me the chance to tell this story and give opportunity to charge others to do the same.”
