🎥 Warrior Of Light is an
evolving collaboration between dancer / choreographer & bassist
—where movement & sound meet in a shared exploration of resilience.

Inspired by the idea that even in a world shaped by conflict, inequality, & uncertainty, there is still strength in presence...& power in expression.
This work lives in the tension between struggle & grace, asking how we continue to move with intention, poise, & purpose. ✨

🎥 A look back at a very special session with one of my favorite guitarists, for the Red Sofa Concert Series.

Ever since first encountering William’s playing on Lambchop’s devastatingly beautiful album “Is a Woman”, I’ve been completely smitten w/ his singular sound. Each new release reveals another layer—& another mystery to behold. ✨

Very grateful we got to capture this one. Special thanks to & the NYGF for making this happen, & to everyone who helped bring this session to life.

🎥 Our friends & just unleashed a ferocious new album, Deface The Currency, out now on — & it’s every bit as fearless & forward-thinking as you’d expect. DTC captures the 4tet operating at full intensity — structurally adventurous, rhythmically elastic, & uncompromising in tone / force. It’s a collaboration that feels less like a guest feature at this point & more like a fully integrated fire unit pushing into new terrain.

Do yourself a favor & grab a copy ASAP.

This clip dates back to The Messthetics’ visit to Asbury Park a few years ago at the dearly missed Saint. If that performance was any indication, the upcoming DTC spring tour promises to be one for the books.⚡️

🎥 One more post in celebration of Mike Mike McLaughlin’s new photo book, “Lightning in a Bottle: A Love Letter to Asbury Lanes”: lest we forget the original Asbury Lanes visionary who set the whole damn thing ablaze — Meldon Van Riper Stultz III. Fueled with a reckless love for art, music, & community, turned a bowling alley into a cultural spark plug that changed Asbury Park forever. Another reminder of a time when Asbury’s revival was driven by art & risk, not real estate...

On a personal note, I’ll always treasure those early days when Mel let me book a screening of the Minutemen biopic, followed by an army of local bands tearing through covers by the infamous San Pedro trio. It was also the first time I ever played live — a moment that quietly set the course for a lifetime of music. One hell of a night & one hell of an era. We all “jammed econo”, for sure.

🎥 In honor of Mike McLaughlin’s “Lightning in a Bottle: A Love Letter to Asbury Lanes” photography book, gallery opening, & myriad celebrations this weekend at Parlor Gallery (& beyond!), I’ve dusted off a portion of a profile piece w/ the inimitable that I co-directed w/ my dear friend & was produced by a few years back. The was a magical place—an embodiment of punk rock’s DIY ethos, where community, collaboration, inclusion, & every kind of joyful noise were celebrated. We all miss it madly...

“For over a decade, photographer Mike McLaughlin served as the unofficial “keeper of the Asbury Lanes’ memories,” instinctively documenting the music, the misfits, the staff, the artists, & the rare magic that lived inside the Lanes’ walls. His camera became an extension of him, allowing him to preserve a community and a creative universe that no longer exists. McLaughlin offers a visual archive of a beloved cultural landmark — a collective fever dream shared by those who called the Lanes home.”

Here’s a look back at a special collaboration between Baptista’s Banquet of the Spirits, & Moon Lasso.
