Joe Hall was a husband, a father, and a friend to many — but let’s not forget, he was also an icon.

His music, his story, and his dedication to Louisiana Creole music left a lasting mark on our community. And his legacy continues to live on at NUNU Arts & Culture Collective in Arnaudville.

Join us Saturday, November 21st, from 6–9 PM, as we come together to honor Joe’s life and legacy through music, stories, and a special screening of his documentary, along with performances by some of his closest friends in music.

A portion of the proceeds from this event will go directly to Ms. Linda Hall, Joe’s widow, and in addition, help fund an intimate Creole music concert series in Arnaudville next year, in partnership with NUNU and Zydeco Izreal.

Together, we’re continuing Joe’s legacy by supporting his family, celebrating his music, and keeping Louisiana Creole music alive in the community.

Merci to St Landry Parish Tourism and The Hive Market for sponsoring the event.

This month, we’re bringing together three generations of musical knowledge and tradition for Le Grand Jam at NUNU in celebration of Créole Heritage Month. Among the musicians guiding the afternoon is Mark Ardoin, a respected figure in Louisiana Créole music whose life has been shaped by the sounds and traditions of his family.

Raised in Elton, Louisiana, Mark was born into a family of musicians where lyrics, melodies, and traditions were passed down from generation to generation. He began playing music at just three years old, learning the accordion on his father’s old instrument. Through his music, Mark continues to carry forward the sound and traditions of our Créole ancestors.

According to Zydeco Izreal, “Mark Ardoin is one of the vanguards of the lineage.”

Join us on Saturday, October 17, from 2–4 PM at NUNU Arts & Culture Collective in Arnaudville for Le Grand Jam! Come celebrate our Créole musical heritage through the music, the musicians, and the traditions that continue to bring our community together.

Free and open to all ages and skill levels. Bring your instrument, join the jam, and help keep the music alive!

One of the three Creole music icons leading our Le Grand Jam this month at NUNU Arts & Culture Collective on October 17th is none other than Jeffery Broussard!

Born into a musically talented, Creole French-speaking family, Broussard grew up in Frilot Cove, near Opelousas, Louisiana, where he was introduced to music at an early age. His father was an accomplished musician, and his mother, Ethel, performed traditional a ca****la juré music at home. Jeffery joined his father’s band as a child, beginning a lifelong journey that would make him one of the most respected musicians in Creole and Zydeco music.

From his groundbreaking work with Zydeco Force to leading Jeffery Broussard and the Creole Cowboys, he has continued to carry the sound of traditional Creole music forward. A multi-instrumentalist, Broussard is known for his accordion playing, bluesy vocals, and distinctive musical style. He is also one of the few Creole musicians who carries on the tradition of playing the fiddle, an instrument with deep roots in Louisiana’s early Creole music.

Zydeco Izreal considers Jeffery Broussard one of the many “Kings of the Creole & Zydeco Accordion,” recognizing his contributions to the music and the generations he continues to inspire.

Join us on Saturday, October 17th, from 2–4 PM for Le Grand Jam, a special edition of our monthly Zydeco Jam celebrating Creole Heritage Month. Come enjoy an afternoon of traditional Creole music, cultural connection, and community with three outstanding musicians helping lead the jam.

As part of our monthly Zydeco Jam at NUNU Arts & Culture Collective, we’re hosting Le Grand Jam in honor of Créole Heritage Month! This special jam will bring together three talented musicians to lead us in celebrating the rich traditions of Louisiana Creole music. One of those musicians is Brandon Ledet, accordionist and founder of Creole Touch.

Brandon formed Creole Touch in 2012, bringing together the sounds of traditional Creole music and modern Zydeco. His musical influences reflect both the old-time roots of the genre and the high-energy sounds of trailblazers like Zydeco Force and Beau Jocque.

Back in February, Zydeco Izreal had the opportunity to sit down with Brandon for an interview, where he shared a little about his musical journey. Brandon grew up around music, with his grandfather playing harmonica and rubboard. Family gatherings were an opportunity for everyone to come together and play music, keeping those traditions alive through generations. At 25 years old, Brandon picked up the accordion, continuing his journey into the music that had surrounded him from a young age.

Beyond performing, Brandon is also an advocate for French music in Louisiana, helping preserve and carry forward the sounds and cultural traditions that make our music so special. His journey is a reminder of how French music continues to evolve while staying connected to its roots.

We’re proud to have Brandon join us for Le Grand Jam as we celebrate Créole Heritage Month, honor the musicians who came before us, and keep our musical traditions alive for generations to come.

Come out, bring your instrument, and join us for an afternoon of music, culture, and community at NUNU!

Merci beaucoup to Brandon Ledet for being part of this special gathering!

A big thank you to everyone who continues to support our monthly Creole/Zydeco Jam here at NUNU. Every month, we get to come together, pick up our instruments, and keep this music alive through community.

Creole music is one of America’s oldest living musical traditions, and being able to celebrate that heritage with an open jam session every month here at NUNU is truly something special.

We have 3 more jams left this year, happening every 3rd Saturday of the month from 2–4 PM. And of course, it’s FREE and open to all ages and skill levels!

This is an open acoustic jam, so bring your accordion, fiddle, triangle, rubboard, guitar, or whatever instrument you play and come make some music with us. Whether you’ve been playing for years or you’re just learning, there’s a place for you.

For our October jam, we’re doing something a little different. Since October is International Creole Heritage Month, we’ll be honoring the month with what we’re calling the “Le Grande Jam.”

We’ll have three Creole music icons coming together to lead the jam and help us celebrate the music, culture, and traditions that continue to live through all of us.

It is an honor to share with y’all that I'm organizing a special tribute concert honoring the life and legacy of Joe Hall at NUNU Arts & Culture Collective in Arnaudville on November 21st, from 6–9 PM.

Joe Hall was more than a musician. He was a husband, father, friend, and a Louisiana Creole accordionist who dedicated his life to the music and traditions that connected him to his community.

For generations, Creole music has been carried from front porches, family gatherings, house dances, and community celebrations into new generations. Joe was one of the people who helped keep that tradition moving forward.

This tribute is about more than remembering a musician. It’s about remembering a man, the people he touched, the music he shared, and the culture he helped carry.

I’m grateful to have the opportunity to bring family, friends, musicians, and our community together at NUNU to celebrate Joe’s life and the legacy he left behind.

More details about the event coming soon.
