Saffronitas, you're a smart bunch and many of you saw this coming, but we regret to announce that Saffron Dance is officially closed. We had a marvelous run. We made great art, we changed our own and others' lives, and we crafted a community with deep strong roots whose heart beats on. Don't let this be the end of your creative pursuits. Your voice matters, and it's our greatest hope that you continue to share yourself and your unique perspective with the world whether that be through dance or some other new hobby that's sweeping you off your feet. No matter where you go or what you do next, you'll always be a dancer--so hold your chin high, keep your shoulders broad, your heart open--and when in doubt, point your toes. You're going to shine out there.

Yasmine Student Company began learning this choreography in January 2020, in preparation for Saffron Dance's annual June show, "Casbah."

Then COVID-19 hit, and all of our plans here at the studio were thrown into a state of uncertainty.

First, we transitioned to virtual classes, hoping that this would be a temporary solution and that all would return to normal in time for the show.

But of course, that wasn't how it turned out.

When it became clear that a June show would not be possible under the precautions of social distancing, Elena Faye Dance gave her students the option of filming themselves to create a video "show." Elena hated the idea of all of the students' hard work going to waste, especially since they were relatively new to the studio and "Casbah" would have been their biggest show yet.

The students bravely agreed to film themselves in full costume and makeup - not an easy task! There were practice runs, dress rehearsals, and lots of time spent transitioning the "stage formations" to "video formations."

We hope you enjoy this labor of love and that it brightens your day!
