Remember that time I went on Texas Today and showcased a project that we had done at camp that focused on trees in the rainforest? This was the exact moment that I realized that I wanted camp to become an immersive experience. I wanted to go beyond using reference photos found on the internet, and instead let students touch the leaves in person as they listen to howler monkeys in the distance. Taking their own reference photos as we walk through the jungle canopy. Well friends, that vision has become a reality.

If we haven’t met, my name is Lindsay Whittenberg and I am the owner of Lindsay's Art Cart and full time art teacher at Lake Ridge High School. I am customizing a trip for young artists (and their families!) while we explore the beautiful country of Costa Rica!

Well, that didn’t take long! 😂

I am thrilled to announce that I am working on customizing a trip to Costa Rica this June (tentative dates: 9-18th)!!!!

Oh, best part! All ages are invited! I can’t tell you how many times I hear, “Man, I with there was an art camp for adults!” Now you can join your kiddo on a camp experience they will remember forever!

Yes, I am officially in my, “I need readers for art demos,” era. 🤓

Guys, I could really use your help. I am teaching the Partners in Art class this year (for our special needs students at Lake Ridge High School) and although I consider myself a fairly seasoned teacher at this point, this is a whole new world for me. After the first day of class, I quickly realized that I needed to rethink my plan for the year.

I will be purchasing things with my budget funds for the year on Monday, but we all know that process can sometimes take weeks, especially at the beginning of the year. I’ve made a list of items we need quickly to make this a truly exceptional art experience for these kiddos.

I can already tell that I am going to fall in love with these kids and I think I can speak for all of us when I say, “Thank-you for the bottom of our hearts.”💕

(For my Mansfield ISD peeps, we heard all about one of my students from her mom at convocation. 🥰💚🖤)

Yesterday, we wrapped up Summer Art Camp for the final time. 😭🩷 It has been so great to see all of you at the art shows over the summer to say goodbye. This isn’t the end, but the beginning of a new chapter of . I’m excited to see where it takes us!

Cactus paintings, self portraits and dioramas filled the day at Art Camp! Can you see how these kids are jumping out of their comfort zones and trying new techniques?! I love nothing more than seeing kids make mistakes! That’s the sweet spot where learning takes place.
Trying something new= mistakes= learning!!! Way to go, little artists! 🧑🏼‍🎨🎨🩷
