Join us Sat 10/17, 4-6 pm for You and Me, the first of two conversations with the artists of Tandem. For this special 20th anniversary exhibition, we asked groups of our artists to work together on a collaborative project. Each group approached this task differently, and found ways to combine their mediums and styles into single or complementary works of art. Cyrille Conan and Kenji Nakayama are old friends and have collaborated many times in the past so they were a natural fit for Tandem: 20 Years of 13FOREST. More often than not, Kenji will start a series of panels and deliver them to Cyrille for him to finish up. In fact, Cyrille told us he keeps a stack of Kenji's unfinished panels on hand to work on when he wants to loosen up or start something new. For Tandem, we grouped our artists into pairs but left the nature of the collaborations up to them. Realist painter Paul Beckingham and experiential designer and photographer Jaina Cipriano were not the most likely duo but after exploring mutual subjects of importance, they landed on two: lizards and tea.
