I did it!!! I finished with my own challenge. I learned a LOT this month. Let me break it down:
1. Social media just isn’t my thing. I can’t seem to consistently post. It stresses me out.
2. As cool as these all look together, sticking to a strict style like this left me feeling unmotivated and frustrated. Next month I’m gonna do whatever the heck I want lol.
3. I learned how to crochet!!! I bought a woobles kit and immediately became obsessed. My son even wants to learn now!
4. We went camping and learned that raccoons can use zippers… it was not pleasant waking up to a raccoon munching on your snacks just a few feet away from you.. (thankfully it wasn’t a skunk!) I put a picture of an armadillo, I just thought he was cute.

I think that’s all the key points. October was interesting. Happy Halloween!!

Todays prompt was companion/friend. I was stumped because I really like so many of them. I went with phantom Zelda from Spirit Tracks. I have such a love hate relationship with that game. Parts of of it were brilliant and others were just awful. I almost never finished the game because of a stupid flute part. Hiya guys!!! Rachael from…. LoneStar Otaku!! I’ve changed my name to suit my new medium of art better. I loved sculpting, and I miss it. However, illustrative art is what I do now and I wanted to retire my sculpting name and start kinda new. I thought about making a whole new profile, but decided that this is all a documentation of my art journey. Starting with polymer clay will always be a part of me and who I am as an artist, so I do not want to erase that.

I’ve been working really hard trying to improve my drawing skills. (With a 15 month old and homeschool it’s been fun lol). I am starting to see some improvements and I am so excited to see where my art will take me. I have plans of a future shop and more youtube videos! Maybe even TikTok, but I’m not sure. Anyway, I will be working to post more often, at least a couple times a week.

Hiya guys! It’s been a bit since I’ve posted anything lol. Shortly after my last post (over a year ago) I wasn’t feeling myself and couldn’t keep my mind focus. WELL, turns out I was pregnant! Nothing about the pregnancy was easy and took a toll on me physically as well as mentally. I gave birth to my daughter on 7-7-22, and that didn’t really go smoothly either. Since then I’ve been working through mental struggles and adjusting to life as a mom of 2. Now that my baby is almost 5 months, I finally feel myself coming back! I saw there was a art challenge of cartooning 4 people, so I chose to do my family (baby included lol). After not finishing a picture In over a year, I managed to get 4 done in about a week!! There are flaws, but I did it!! I wanted to prove that I could, so I did. I am pumped now more than ever to get back to studying and improving my art.

I hope y’all have been good this last year. I’ve missed posting and sharing, and hopefully I’ll be able To share more often now. I love you guys!

Today is a big deal for me. Today 100 days ago I took on the challenge from ! I marked everyday in my calendar, and eventually I didn’t want to break my streak. I just devoted to myself to draw for at least 5 minutes a day. Sometimes that’s all I had the energy to do. Most days I drew for quite a bit longer. I’m filling my sketchbook and learning and having the time of my life. I definitely plan on going for another 100 days!!

I did this illustration traditionally with colored pencils and alcohol markers. I’ve been neglecting my markers and I miss them. ❤️

I have been SO busy lately. I haven’t been drawing as much as I would like to, but I am still drawing. So that’s a win! ...

I have been SO busy lately. I haven’t been drawing as much as I would like to, but I am still drawing. So that’s a win! Life seems to be settling down and I’m trying to incorporate some healthier habits (hello Beat Saber!) But drawing for me has become therapy. So I make it a priority to sit down for at least 5 minutes and doodle something. Here’s some studies I did from some Pinterest recommendations. I need to work on changing the face a bit so I don’t end up with same face syndrome.

When I started drawing these characters I had the intention of them being chibis. But the more I practiced and the more they evolved into what they wanted to be, they aren’t chibi lol. I’ve wrestled in my brain a bit, but in the end I think they are super cute cartoony characters that I am having a ton of fun drawing. It’s really fun kind of stumbling onto a style and letting it evolve on its own.

Kk slider!!! Another sketch done! This guy is, of course, going to be a sticker. Pretty much all of my finished drawings are. At least until I’m confident enough to work on prints. I struggled a lot. Particularly with him being in a non boring pose and stylizing him a bit. I still have so much to learn, but I’m happy with how he came out. I can’t wait to see what they announce for the update next Friday.

Stitches!!!! I tried a new technique for this guy in affinity designer and I’m so pleased with the results. Using vector I feel is really underrated, you should give it a try!

I just can’t seem to get his right hand just right. BUT I can’t really see what I’m doing anymore lol. I’ll try and fix it on my iPad where pencils don’t leave a mark on the paper. As a whole I’m really happy with this sketch. And I can’t wait to color him!
