💃🏻 What is a remate?

In Spanish dance and flamenco, a remate is a short rhythmic phrase used to accent or bring a movement to a strong ending. 👠✨

It’s all about rhythm, precision, and that final ¡remate! 🔥

🎶 Ría ría pita! This is a phonetic way of learning and memorizing the different finger movements, strikes, rolls, and accents used to play the castanets. Each syllable helps us connect the sound of the rhythm to the movement of our fingers. 💃🏻

✨ Ta / Pi = individual taps or strikes
✨ Ría / Ría ría = a quick finger roll
✨ Pita = a short rhythmic combination
✨ Chin / Pam = an accent, often with both castanets striking together

So when we practice, we’re not just saying words… we’re training our fingers to speak the rhythm! ❤️

Join our dance & castanet classes today to practice along with us! 👏🏼

Start slow, then let the rhythm take over ❤️‍🔥

Zapateados are all about control, precision, and musicality. We begin slowly, focusing on each step and each sound, and then gradually build the speed while keeping the movement clean and the rhythm strong.

It’s a reminder that speed comes with practice! First you find the rhythm, then you find your flow 👠

A little zapateado from our Spanish Dance & Flamenco classes! 💃🏻
