Perfume bottle with stopper, glass, 2021
This piece was an enjoyable challenge, not in its form necessarily - but rather in the stopper. It’s easy to overlook how many different options variations therein are possible when it comes to lids for any type of vessel. This is definitely something I’ll be exploring more in the future.

Pasta jar, 13” tall x 4” diameter.
Made this piece to practice lidded vessels. The lid has a bit of play where it sits upon the rim of the jar, but overall still pleased with the outcome! The hardest part was making the k**b upon which to hold the lid. Learned lots and have tons of opportunity to play with the lid to jar interface in the future.

Another goblet from this past semester. Definitely burnt one of the decorative jacklines a bit with the hot torch, but c’est la vie. Very fun making goblets! Can’t wait to get back into the studio to make more.

Fancy vase part 37, glass, 9” tall x 4” diameter.
This one was fun to make, both because of all the decorative constrictions in the neck of the vessel and also because of the brave color application technique used. For the color here, I picked up a piece of opal black rod, gathered & popped my bubble before adding a moderate amount of garnet red 01 frit. I was originally worried that the opal black would drown out the garnet red, but the end result here is a nice deep, subtle tint of red. Very pleased with the outcome.

Fluted goblet, glass, 4/21
I am undoubtedly more proud of this goblet than any other I have mide - it is the pinnacle of my goblet making journey thus far. Working this thin provided many challenges in and of itself. Despite these challenges, I somehow managed to keep it on center! Can’t wait to get back in the hot shop and pump out some more of these.

Big Amphora (13”x6”), glass, 5/21
This piece is a personal favorite for two reasons: 1) it’s the largest amphora I’ve made so far, and 2) it’s the last piece I made as a student!
It’s been less than a month since I’ve had access to my alma mater’s glass studio and I already miss it like crazy. Can’t wait to have the resources at my disposal to start blowing glass again. Until then I’ll work on posting the rest of my work from Spring ‘21 semester here, and finding other means to create art along the way 🤘🏼

I’ve been trying to get fancy with some decorative elements in my vases lately. I guess I rather should say ‘have been’; Sunday was the last day to work in UTAG’s hot shop and man is the melancholy already kicking in! I haven’t even graduated yet and I’m already missing blowing glass here.
