Welcome back to Movement Monday!

The last yoga pose of the month is your half pigeon pose! This pose is great for improving posture, stretching the hops out and opening the chest.

You can always intensify or modify to fit your needs best. You can add a pillow under your hips, you can add mobility or you can lift more through your chest. Try to avoid twisting or pulling through the front knee – all the mobility should move through the hips.

Give our Yoga classes a try and feel the amazing benefits!

Welcome back to Movement Monday!

This yoga pose allows you to really sink into the ground and open your hips. This stretch will allow you to improve mobility and flexibility while providing a calming mindset. The name is accurate to the motion and the feeling – bring out your inner child and feel the relaxation!

While this pose may not be easily integrated into a cool down – give it a tray and feel your back fall into the map and your hips sink open.

💙 That's a wrap on another unforgettable summer at The Beacon! 💙

To our incredible campers...

We laughed...
We played until we were exhausted...
We made new friends...
We danced, competed, created, explored, and made memories that will last a lifetime...

As we close out another amazing summer, we want to send a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our campers and families for trusting us to be a part of your summer. Watching your children grow in confidence, make new friendships, and fill our facility with laughter is why we do what we do.

A special thank you goes to our outstanding camp staff, whose energy, creativity, patience, and dedication made every day a memorable experience. You brought the fun, created unforgettable moments, and made a positive impact on every camper who walked through our doors.

While we're sad to see camp come to an end... we're already counting down the days until next summer!

Until then, thank you for another incredible season of smiles, adventures, and memories.

See you soon, Beacon families! 💙

Welcome back to Movement Monday!

This month we’ll introduce you to some basic yoga poses that you can incorporate and interpret into your warm-ups or cool downs. You may even recognize them as part of your lifting patterns already!

A downward-Facing Dog is a great pose that allows you to connect and stretch. This position does have you upside-down so be prepared!

You can find yourself in your downward-facing down through all different types of flows. You can start in a tabletop position, hands slightly in front of your shoulders and spread your fingers wide for a big base of support. Drive through your hands and lift your knees off the ground and send the hips back. If you’re feeling tightness or strain in you hamstrings/back, keep your knees bent. You have options to modify by using props (blocks, chair, etc.) or the wall.

Welcome back to Movement Monday!

Your movement today is a leg raise accompanied by a dumbbell. This exercise can be done without the dumbbell, but the equipment adds a little bit more umph! Do this anywhere and elevate your core experience.

Here’s how to do it:
• Lay on your back with your legs out straight, or with a slight bend
• Hold the dumbbell straight above your pec line
• Brace down on your core and lift your legs as high as your form allows while lifting your shoulder blades off the ground
• Continue to lower and raise your legs while holding the dumbbell sturdy in your hands.

Key takeaway here is to really bear down the core so you protect the spine while you both lift/lower your legs and hold up the dumbbell! Fire finisher!

Welcome back to Movement Monday!

Let’s continue talking about core strength. Today we’re keeping it simple and we’re going to do a seated knee to elbow. This movement allows you to work with a rotation while working on core stability in a seated position.

Here are so focuses:
• Pay attention to your posture! You want your shoulders down and away from your ears, aligned spine, and core braced.
• Focus on driving your knee to your shoulder instead of your elbow. You won’t reach, but this will prevent you from curving your shoulders in.
Use this exercise paired with another to possibly create a fun tabata style workout!
