Join the JAM Orchestra on Saturday, August 8th at 7:30pm at Nichols Hall in Evanston as we explore American classical music in a program that highlights the different interpretations of the “American sound”. The music explores the different harmonic languages, idiosyncratic rhythms, and distinct melodies that showcase the struggle, optimism, and diversity of the American experience. With works by Barber, Montgomery, Still, Sondheim, Williams, Higdon, and Copland, Reflections on America invites audiences to listen, question, and reflect on where we’ve been, where we are, and where we might go next as America marks its 250th anniversary. Would you, could you… come to Ravinia?

JAM Orchestra makes its Ravinia Festival debut with Dr. Seuss Goes to the Opera on August 29, 2026 at 1:30pm in the Martin Theatre as part of Ravinia’s Kids Concert Series.

Featuring operatic adaptations of Green Eggs and Ham and Gertrude McFuzz, with music by Robert Kapilow and the original text by Dr. Seuss, the performance pairs professional opera singers with a chamber orchestra conducted by JAM Artistic Director Aaron Kaplan.

A lively, colorful production that brings the stories to life with playful staging and moments that invite the audience to join the fun.

A joyful introduction to opera for young audiences and a delightful afternoon for the whole family.

What a year for JAM Orchestra! 2025 brought Nathan Gunn & Friends, Come Fly With Me, Mary Poppins in Concert, Rocky Horror (again!), and Hairspray. Huge thanks to our musicians, and to our collaborators and friends, especially Uptown Music Theater of Highland Park, Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, Nathan Gunn, and Antonio Duca.
