As many of you may already know: This upcoming school year, I will be transferring from Creekside Elementary to Cedar Hill Elementary.

I have enjoyed the last 5 years teaching art at Creekside so much, and I will cherish all the memories I have made here forever. Creekside was my first teaching job, and I have learned and grown so much during my time here. Telling students and saying goodbye has been hard, but I know that just attests to how lucky I have been to have spent the time with them that I did.

Thank you to the Creekside family for following along to all of our art lessons and classroom journeys over the last 5 years. I can’t wait to carry what I have learned here over to Cedar Hill next year. 💛

5th graders “looked into the future” for their last art project of elementary school. Each student was prompted to think about something they were looking forward to within their futures: Sunmer plans? 6th grade? High school? Some students even chose careers they are interested in!

We have had another amazing year in art, and I know these students have such bright futures ahead of them. 💛

3rd grade texture mushroom landscapes! We learned the difference between background, middle ground, and foreground for these. Students drew a “smaller” mushroom far away in the background behind their big mushrooms to show space.🍄🌈

Art Club cat and dog styrofoam prints from a few months ago that I forgot to share! Students learned about relief printmaking, carved their designs into styrofoam, then used brayers to roll ink and print.

When over half a class is absent/on a field trip, you improvise!! Since 3rd grade is currently learning about textures and texture plates, this small group of students got to take a break from their current project and use these super cool insect texture plates today during art. 🦋🐝🐞🐜

We had our last Art Club meeting of the school year this afternoon, and it was definitely bittersweet (emphasis on SWEET, we had a LOT of cookies, cupcakes, and donuts!!).

We enjoyed lots of snacks (thank you again to parents who brought these!), an art raffle (this has become a tradition every year), board games, and finished with goodie bags filled with all they’ve made (and a personalized note for each student🩷) as a final farewell for our 2025-2026 Art Club.🛍️

This group has been so fun to work with, and I’m so proud of all they’ve done this year.

Thank you to everyone who came out to Creekside Creates on Thursday! I always love watching students proudly get their pictures taken in front of their artwork at art shows.

Every banner hung up represents months of learning, practice, dedication, perseverance, and the social and artistic growth of each student throughout their 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade years in art class here at Creekside.

Each student has worked so hard and learned so much this year in art, and I absolutely love making these banners and displaying all that they’ve accomplished every year. 🎨❤️

3rd graders are working on their last art project of the school year featuring their last 2 elements of art: texture and space! (They’ve been learning about the 7 elements of art with every project this year.)

We are using texture plates this week to help us visualize and remember the difference between implied texture and actual texture.
