Back in the mid 80s when we started SpookyWoods, we honestly thought we were about the only haunted house around besides the local Jaycees charity haunt.
Then something pretty amazing started happening.
People who worked with us caught the bug. Some went on to start haunted attractions of their own. More haunts began popping up around the Carolinas, and before long, haunt hopping became part of fall.
You didnāt just go to one haunted house.
You loaded up a car with your friends and went looking for the next one.
You screamed together. You laughed together. You talked about which one scared you the most all the way to the next haunt.
It was a fall tradition that brought people together, and looking back, those really were some of the best times.
I want to bring that feeling back.
Thatās why Iām so excited to see Passport to Fear starting to take hold and attractions like Spooky Bottom jumping onboard and helping spread the idea.
There is absolutely no reason for haunted attractions to be against one another. Iāve never punched down. Iāve only lifted up anyone that had a dream and a passion for this amazing industry. ļæ¼
Thereās enough October to go around.
Go see Spooky Bottom. Go see the other independent haunted attractions that pour their hearts, creativity, money and countless hours into building something special every fall.
And yes, come see us at SpookyWoods just like your grandparents did when they were dating!
Donāt pick just one.
Haunt hop.
Make a weekend out of it. Make memories with your friends. Support the artists, actors, builders, dreamers and small businesses behind these attractions.
Thatās what Passport to Fear is really about.
Itās bigger than promoting one haunted house. There is something special about haunted house hopping, itās a memory for a lifetime.
Itās about bringing back a tradition.
See you on the haunt trail.
Weāre excited to be part of Passport to Fear, a brand new way to haunt hop across the Southeast. Grab your passport at Spooky Bottom this season, collect stamps at each attraction, and get entered for swag and a grand prize pack of tickets from every haunt in the book. Make haunt hopping your mission this year!!!!
Thank you Tony Wohlgemuth at Kersey Valley SpookyWoods for telling us about this!! Glad to be apart of it!
