Every year we're reminded about what an awful job, the Rock N Roll HOF does with, well everything as a base of who gets in, and when. Here's what I'd suggest as an automatic induction with the following 3 sets of criteria.

1-Artist must have at least 10 full studio album releases
2-Artist must have at least 5 platinum albums
3-Artist must have toured for more than 10 years collective time

Not that you wouldn't induct artists on other merits, but you'd set a line in the sand where greatness starts. Similar to baseball with 500 homeruns, 300 wins, or 3,000 hits. This way the discussion could be based on what a musician had done to get to a certain level. It also sends a message to the artist as to where they stand based on productivity...
