ISO valve cap for 690-BV Halkey-Robert’s valve. We were gifted pontoons with this older style valve but only one valve. Does anyone have a valve we can rent or buy for the race this year?

We can replace these older valves for next year’s race but don’t have time to do it this year. Aloha and glory!

The Kinetic Sculpture Lab is opening its doors to the community for a full day of creativity, curiosity, and treasure hunting at its Open House and Kinetic Garage Sale on April 4th from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at its new home.

Come explore the Lab’s new space, meet the makers, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the incredible human-powered art machines that define Humboldt’s beloved kinetic culture. This is a chance for the community to connect with local artists, engineers, and builders who bring these larger-than-life sculptures to life.

Throughout the day, Kinetic Sculpture teams will be hosting a Kinetic Garage Sale, offering up unique, quirky, and one-of-a-kind items to raise funds for their teams. From unexpected treasures to creative oddities, there’s no telling what you might find—but every purchase helps keep the wheels turning.

Refreshments will also be available for purchase, with proceeds supporting the continued growth and operations of the Kinetic Sculpture Lab.

Whether you’re a longtime fan of the Kinetic Race or brand new to the scene, this event is the perfect opportunity to experience the magic of the Lab’s new home, support local teams, and score some truly unique finds.

After 33 years it is time to close the door on the original Kinetic Sculpture Lab. This place housed so many dreams, ideas, artists, engineers and visionaries! So sad to leave the space but the soul of the kinetic lab is moving with us to our new space at 1680 Samoa blvd in Arcata!

We are blown away by all the generous glory of so many folks! We had teams, ground pounders, glorious spectators and officials all come out and lend a hand. The volunteers filled not one but two 40 yard dumpsters and 40 yards of metal was taken to the scrap yard! We truly feel your love and appreciation for the Kinetic Sculpture Lab!

Now that the new space is cleaned we are ready for our big move from the original lab to our new one. If you would like more detail and to help us next weekend click on the link in our bio.

The Kinetic Sculpture Lab is excited to announce that it has a new temporary home at 1680 Samoa Boulevard, the former SoilScapes building. This move allows the Lab to continue its mission of building, experimenting, and creating kinetic sculptures while maintaining strong roots in the local creative and maker community.
Call for Community Moving Help
As part of this transition, the Kinetic Sculpture Lab is calling on the community for help moving 33 years of art, tools, and materials into the new space. Volunteers are invited to lend a hand on:
February 14 and 15, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM
What to bring / wear:
Closed-toe shoes
Work gloves
A willingness to lift, organize, and help where needed
All levels of help are welcome — whether you can lift heavy items, help load and unload, or assist with organizing.

So many memories and machines have been made under this roof! It is time for us to find a new home. We are looking for a space ideally in Arcata that is 3500 square feet (or more), 25’ ceilings and a roll up door to accommodate some tall art.

Humboldt’s most twisted tradition is back again this year for frightful fun! The Haunted Kinetic Lab of Horrors, a one-of-a-kind Halloween event, returns to the Kinetic Sculpture Lab in Arcata from October 24th, 25th, 30th and Halloween. Get ready for a spine-tingling journey through a haunted lab where terrifying surprises and creepy creations await.
This year’s event promises to be the most horrifying yet, with an immersive guided tour through the Lab’s dark corners and twisted rooms. You will encounter the Lab’s unwanted “guests”—monstrous experiments, bizarre sculptures, creepy clowns and live creatures lurking in every shadow. Live music every night, the haunted atmosphere will be amplified as you make your way through this one-of-a-kind, artist-designed horror show.

A rabid possum, Seizures Palace, Grandma’s yeast infection? Who knows what evil will be lurking at this year’s Haunted Kinetic Lab of Horrors!

Humboldt’s best Halloween venue is back! Music and food every night. Corner of 8th & N in Arcata’s Creamery District. 13 years old and over suggested. October 24, 25, 30 and Halloween 7pm till midnight.

$15 tickets available at the gate. Cash only. All proceeds benefit the Kinetic Sculpture Lab.
