Get out your cameras and take some pictures~
Just because you don't have a $3000 camera, it doesn't mean you can't take a nice shot. It's not the camera, it's the photographer and the photographer's eye.
Some of the best pictures I have taken were with an inexpensive pocket camera. The equipment gives the photographer versatility, NOT creativity, knowledge, skill or subject matter. Your camera is a tool.
You can spend tens of thousands of dollars on equipment and still not be a photographer. When I first started, I used a fixed focus 126 mm film box camera. I was just a child, however with practice I was able to get some wonderful shots. I moved up to a pocket 110 camera with a fixed focus with telephoto - wow did I have some fun with that. Within 5 years I had several 35mm camera bodies and lenses ranging from macro to a 3500mm telephoto lense, hundreds of filters and a back ache from carrying all the equipment.
Thousands of dollars invested and as it turns out, I mostly used my 50 mm or my 75-300. Now I've finally gone to a DSLR and have a lot of toys. what do I use? My 35-55 and my 75-300 and a tripod. I carry 4 filters and a couple of dozen SD cards. On a rare occasion or if I'm feeling really scratchy the 4800 mm fixed focal lenses. In truth they are slow, heavy, and cumbersome...... but I can take a picture of an elk from 5 miles away....... who cares? That's like hunting from a car with a bazooka. Where's the adventure?
Lighter, Smaller, smaller & faster. That's the way to go if you're starting out.
Remember, Life is about the journey, not the destination. So is photography.
