I know several people wanted a follow-up from our last post, as we waited for the dust to settle. Never in a million years did I or any of the staff members expect this to blow up to the proportions that it has, with over a million views and somehow a global reach. Truthful responding to reviews is nothing new for our business. As said before, if we get a bad review/rating, we take it seriously and try our best to improve and learn from our mistakes. We are as human as everyone else. However, in our industry (and from many other businesses who sent messages) there are far too many reviews that are nothing more than a revenge tactic from those who weren’t given a pass on their poor behavior. This isn’t the first time something like this has occurred, and it’s pretty doubtful, unfortunately, that it will be the last.
To us, this is not a novel approach. When these type of reviews come through, I have no hesitation defending our staff or our business. The flip side, when we are at fault, there is also zero hesitation in addressing our short comings; taking steps to change our approach and grow. Just ask a staff member :)
The outcome from this week, however, was highly unexpected.
Thank you ALL for the support, love and laughs. We were all completely blown away by the response to this and each of you have really made us all feel very special and appreciated. I have typed, “This $ #!+ is bananas,” more than I should admit. So, again, thank you for the encouragement!
The rest of story…
from this day forward, known as the “Dylan Event.”
After speaking with management and staff, we have decided to just drop it. I know this isn’t the outcome that so many want to see, but we felt as though this is the best course of action, for a few reasons.
The first and most important in our respect for the Police Department, we feel as though their time and energy is best spent on more important things. In the events from this past weekend, beyond some embarrassment and hurt feelings, no one was harmed. The staff member who was in the middle of the altercation does not want to turn this into a legal matter. Since Dylan will still be banned from the property, we know we will not have to deal with him, ever again.
The other side of our decision is, Karma was served. As we will not speculate into Dylan’s past legal aggressions (or even if those charges belong to the same individual), we are sure that the point was made clear and pressing this further just seems gratuitous. Hopefully a lesson will be learned and, if not, it’s out of our hands.
We’re not out for blood.
We’re out for peace and calm.
Sometimes that means putting B.S. behind us.
Love to all of you,
Kelly & Jennifer
