Yesterday, June 7th was my 24th anniversary as a professional ETA. My first paid performance was for the Lions Club at Coldspring, TX, on June 7th, 2001. It has been exactly 4,300 performances since then. I went full time on July 1st, 2006. We are very, very blessed to have made many, many friends over the years as we have traveled for shows in 9 different states, two other countries, (Singapore and Vietnam), once on a cruise ship, and of course, all over Texas. We have been to Graceland 7 times and to Tupelo once. I have set in Elvis' 1956 Lincoln (in Houston). I have met a boxer who trained Elvis for his role in Kid Galahad, Bob Hope's Road manager, the drummer who played in the Elvis movie, Easy Come, Easy Go, Charlie Hodge, one of Elvis' righthand men....and so many others directly connected to Elvis and/or in the entertainment business. I have an autographed drumstick from D.J. Fontana and an autographed photo of John Wilkerson (Elvis' guitarist) (Though I didn't personally meet either one. These were gifts from other ETAs.) I have performed with numerous fellow ETAs and tribute artists for other singers. 76% of our shows have been in retirements centers and we have made so many close friends as a result. What a blessing. I have performed on the same stages where Elvis once performed and have set at the white grand piano that he bought and played at a hotel he stayed at in Odessa, TX, in 1974. If I had time to write a book about all these things and more, I am sure I could sell at least a dozen copies. LOL Oh, that reminds me, I have been part of two books that people have written, several magazine articles, numerous TV news shows, and countless newspaper articles. Yes, one chapter of any book I would write would have to be titled, "Super Blessed." Anyway, I know I am getting close to retirement (many have asked over the years)....and I am definitely going to slow down a lot next year. Mentally, that's going to be hard, but I know God will clearly show me when it's time to hang up the suits but here is one thing for sure....I will always sing at least gospel music as long as there is breath in me. I could not have done any of these things without the loving support of my wonderful wife, Sharon Elaine Mcfadden. For those of you who know us well, especially, and have kept us in your prayers for our health, safe travels, etc., thank you so very much. May God bless all our friends and loved ones.
