Meet Septembers artist of the Month, Sushila Anderson from Dynamic Glass Design. She is featured in the fine arts building at the Minnesota State Fair, this is her featured piece.

Q 1. Who are you? Sushila Anderson, owner of Dynamic Glass Design
Q 2. Do you work alone or with a group? Alone
Q 3. When did you start creating? Has it been life long or a recently discovered passion? I have always been a creative person, I started working in glass in 2008 during college.
Q 4. Why/How did you start creating? I started learning and working in glass through a college work study program.
Q 5. Who or what inspired you to pursue art? My grade school art teacher and my mom are my first two people that had the largest influence in pursing art.

What has been your biggest accomplishment with your work? Being selected for Studio: Here in the Fine Arts Center at the Minnesota State Fair. This has given me the opportunity to put artwork in the Studio: Here art exhibit and demonstrate my artwork for one full day at the fair, including giving two artists talks.

Fun Art Fact Friday!

The 1985 USPS “Love” stamp was designed by Sister Corita Kent, a self-taught screen printing artist and former nun. Interestingly, she learned screen printing by mail-order kit. Born in 1918, Sister Kent left her religious order, the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, in 1968 to focus on her art and social activism in Boston. Her artistic career spanned several decades until her passing.
