Restock of books and tiny kits!

These tiny kits are great little gifts for birthdays or stocking stuffers for Christmas. We first brought in the ones that were related to fiber arts, such as Tiny Weaving, but some of you asked for other ones, so we have expanded our selection!

The Weaving Explorer is great book to explore frame loom weaving, tapestry, and backstrap weaving. It also has a lovely section on weaving on rocks and with paper!

The Art of Tapestry Weaving by Rebecca Mezoff's Tapestry Studio. This book is a must have for tapestry weavers! It walks you through the basics of weaving all the way through finishing your piece.

We also have a few new books in the shop! Weaving With Paper, The Stitched Landscape, and Hand Dyeing Yarn and Fleece are now available.

Someone recently asked me if we carried Dorset button shuttles.

We didn't.

But now we do! These are 3D printed and can made in any color.

After this request, I started looking up information about Dorest Buttons and what a history! These buttons were made by women and children as a way to add extra income to their households. This cottage industry collapsed when machine-made buttons were produced and became more fashionable.

There are some stunning examples of Dorset buttons out there. And now I have another fiber arts rabbit hole to explore.

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY, FIBERology!

1 year ago today, our doors opened and we began creating this wonderful, creative space.

The store has grown so much in that time because of all of you!

Everyone that has come in, taken classes, ordered online, and Got Crafty has added to this little space called FIBERology.

I look forward to what the next year brings!

Just over a week to register for our upcoming tablet weaving class!

In this two-part tablet weaving class starting October 17th, you will be weaving up something functional AND fancy – shoelaces!

Using a minimum of two contrasting colors, we will be making a repeating diamond shape in this 8-card pattern. We will be using Size 10/2 yarn to keep the end result from getting too bulky.

What you will learn:

* What is table weaving and some history.

As many of you know, I love inkle weaving. You'll often see me inkle weaving when you stop in. There are so many things you can do with inkle weaving!

Well, GOOD NEWS! We have two SchachtSpindleCompany inkle looms in stock and ready for their new homes! As many of you know, these inkle looms are out the door almost as soon as they come in, so come and in and pick one up while they are still here!

If you are looking for other inkle loom options, we also have one Louet and two Beka, Inc. Inkle looms in stock. Beka Looms are our local option and are a sturdy built in St. Paul, MN!

And of, course, lots and lots of yarn for your inkle weaving needs.

We now have a new item in the store! Stop in today to pick yours up!

Strucket has a great product for all your fiber washing needs!

Just spun up some yarn and need to wet finish it? The Strucket Mini (4.5L) would be perfect for 1 skein of yarn!

Have a bigger project you need to soak before blocking? The Strucket (19L) would work best for that purpose.

The Struckets have a strainer that rests right on the edge of the bucket so that the water fully drains from your item. After that, use the handy dandy spout on the bottom of the bucket to drain the wash water into your sink.

These bucket strainers are so handy for so many purposes other than fiber arts.
