The arena is rocking tonight as the Battle of the Badges hits the ice! 🚔🏒

It’s Anoka Police Department vs. Ramsey Police Department in a great night of hockey, community, and friendly competition. Best of luck to both teams, and thank you to all of the officers for your service and dedication.

If you’re at the arena tonight, enjoy the game and cheer loud!

❤️ Honoring Two Extraordinary Leaders. Investing in the Future. 🏒

The Anoka Area Ice Arena community has recently experienced the heartbreaking loss of two individuals whose dedication, leadership, and passion helped shape our organization for decades—Board President Dave Johnson and longtime Board Member Dennis Sauer.

Their commitment to serving our arena, supporting youth hockey, and strengthening our community has left a legacy that will never be forgotten.

One of the ways Dennis's legacy continues is through the AAIA Dennis Sauer Ice Legacy Scholarship, which provides financial assistance to deserving students and helps ensure future generations can pursue their educational goals while remaining connected to the sport and community he loved.

In memory of Dennis Sauer and Dave Johnson, the Anoka Area Ice Arena Board of Directors is accepting donations to the AAIA Dennis Sauer Ice Legacy Scholarship Fund.

If you would like to honor their memories and help continue their commitment to our youth and our community, we invite you to make a contribution.

Donations may be mailed to:

Anoka Area Ice Arena
Attn: Dennis Sauer Ice Legacy Scholarship Fund
4111 7th Avenue
Anoka, MN 55303

Please make checks payable to Anoka Area Ice Arena and note "Dennis Sauer Ice Legacy Scholarship" in the memo line.

Every contribution, no matter the amount, helps carry forward the values that Dave and Dennis exemplified—service, leadership, generosity, and dedication to the Anoka community.

Thank you for helping us honor two remarkable men whose impact will continue to be felt for generations to come.

❤️ Their legacy lives on through every young person we inspire.

Take Action Now to Protect Local Charities in City of Anoka

The City of Anoka is considering a change to its charitable gambling code that would force local non-profit organizations to pay mandatory fees to the City, allowing those charitable dollars to be redistributed as the City sees fit.

Let’s be clear:
This would take money away from local charities and away from the missions they were raised to support.

Charitable gambling funds support youth sports, community programs, public safety initiatives, veteran services and programs, and many other local causes — not so the City can redistribute funds to programs they see fit or to programs that charitable organizations already support.

If this change moves forward, many non-profits will lose critical funding and the ability to give back directly to the Anoka community.

👉 Contact the Mayor and the Anoka City Council immediately
👉 Attend the City Council meeting on April 20, 2026 for the second reading of this proposal
👉 Tell City leaders to keep charitable dollars with charities

If you care about local non-profits, now is the time to speak up.
Protect local charities. Protect local control. Take action.
