Don’t miss the opening concert with Servire Chorus on Sunday, August 2 at 7:30pm in the Lutz Recital Hall at Lebanon Valley College ! This event is open to the public and serves as the kick off to the ACDA-PA summer conference. “Love, Loss, and Legacy” presents an arc from a first initial love or passion for life, to the inevitable trials and loss we all experience, through which we can persevere and find our purpose, to leave a legacy. Featuring original works by award-winning composer-in-residence Matthew Lyon Hazzard, the program features the repertoire from Servire’s upcoming album release “When We Are Gone.” This program is a reflection on years of artistic development, as well as the relationships Servire has built with communities all over the country through the Sing and Serve Mission.

LCS Conductor Conner Newkam-Ulrich and member Lyndon Gehman will be hosting a session on collaborating with composers at the upcoming American Choral Directors Association of Pennsylvania annual summer conference next month. Early bird registration ends today, so don't miss your chance to sign up!

This year's ACDA of Pennsylvania conference will be held at West Chester University from August 3-5, and will be headlined by Anton Armstrong and Pearl Shangkuan.

Conner and Lyndon's session will explore the art of workshopping a new choral composition, focusing on building strong, creative partnerships with composers. Attendees will learn practical strategies for balancing artistic vision with logistical considerations, providing constructive feedback, and navigating revisions. The session will emphasize creating a collaborative environment where both the composer’s intentions and the choir’s performance can thrive. Participants will discover how to engage singers, empowering them to deliver expressive, confident performances while staying true to the composer’s vision. Attendees will leave with tools to foster open communication, enhance the music’s impact, and ensure successful, collaborative performances. This session will demonstrate how to deepen relationships with composers and elevate the choir’s interpretation of new works.
