The First Ever Birding Festival is coming to Calhoun County on October 10!
As we count down to the festival, weβre introducing you to some of the feathered residents you might spot around Calhoun County.
π¦ This weekβs featured bird: The Carolina Wren!
You might be surprised by just how much sound can come from such a tiny bird! The Carolina Wren is known for its loud, cheerful song and can often be spotted hopping through shrubs, brush piles and wooded areas with its little tail pointed upward.
π€ Look for its warm reddish-brown coloring, pale belly and distinctive white stripe above the eye. Carolina Wrens are curious little birds that often make themselves at home around backyards, porches and gardens, too!
