🎻 The school year has started. The music is just beginning.

As students across Annapolis, Severn, and Anne Arundel County settle into new classes and new routines, it’s also the perfect time to think about where music will take them this year.

At the Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra, young musicians have the opportunity to take what they’re learning and experience something bigger, rehearsing alongside other dedicated musicians, strengthening their skills, taking on challenging orchestral repertoire, and experiencing the excitement of performing together.

And if you thought you missed your chance to join CYSO this season… you haven’t. 🎶

Auditions for the 2026–2027 season are still open on a rolling basis, and CYSO also offers music classes and ensemble opportunities for young musicians looking to learn, grow, and find their place in our musical community.

Yesterday, the world lost a true music legend. 🤍🎶

Dolly Parton’s music reached far beyond country music. She was a gifted songwriter, storyteller and performer whose songs connected generations and showed just how powerful music can be.

Her extraordinary career and love of music inspired countless musicians, and the songs she shared with the world will continue to do so for generations to come.

CYSO joins the music community in remembering and celebrating the incredible life and legacy of Dolly Parton. Our thoughts are with her family, friends and all those who loved her.

Her voice may be gone, but her music will live on. 🤍

🎻 A FREE concert opportunity for young musicians and music lovers, happening tomorrow in Arnold!

CYSO families, we wanted to share a special opportunity to see Magic Strings, an incredible ensemble of ten talented young musicians from Estonia, performing Tuesday, August 25 at 7 PM at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

What began as a group of students making music together in Tallinn has taken Magic Strings around the world, with performances at venues including Royal Albert Hall and Lincoln Center and tours throughout Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia. 🌎🎶

Their repertoire spans classical, folk, film music, and contemporary works, making this a wonderful opportunity for local young musicians to see another youth ensemble in action and be inspired by where a love of music can lead.

🎶 CYSO + AACPS Music Educators = A Stronger Music Community!

Yesterday, the Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra was excited to be part of the Anne Arundel County Public Schools Music Professional Development Day, connecting with the incredible music educators who inspire young musicians across Anne Arundel County every day. 🎻🎺🥁

CYSO is proud to be part of a local music community that gives students opportunities to grow beyond the classroom, challenge themselves as musicians, perform alongside their peers, and continue building a lifelong love of music.

A big thank you to AACPS music educators for all they do to encourage and support the next generation of musicians. We loved getting the chance to connect and share more about CYSO and the opportunities available to young musicians throughout the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County area!

Summer may be winding down, but a brand-new season of music is just getting started at CYSO! 🎶

As students head back to school and fall schedules begin to take shape, now is the perfect time to find your place in the Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra.

There’s a lot to look forward to for CYSO’s 37th season! Beginning this fall:

🎻 A new rehearsal home at Annapolis Area Christian School in Severn
🎶 A new rehearsal night on Thursday evenings
🎺 Orchestra and wind ensembles rehearsing together under one roof each week
👏 Expanded masterclasses, additional performance opportunities, student leadership initiatives, and more ways to learn and grow

And of course, another season filled with great music, new friendships, performances, and opportunities to be part of an incredible community of young musicians.

Still thinking about the energy, laughter, and music that filled every corner of our CYSO Summer Camp last week🎻✨💛

For one unforgettable week, rehearsals turned into breakthroughs, strangers became friends, and every day built toward something bigger than any one note, Friday night’s final performance.

And when the lights came up, our students delivered. Every bow stroke, every breath, every moment on stage reflected the hard work, courage, and growth they carried with them all week. It was more than a concert, it was a celebration of everything they had become in just a few short days 👏

To our students, faculty, families, and supporters: thank you for making this week so full of heart, music, and meaning. You made CYSO Summer Camp something truly special 🎼✨

And here’s the best part, this is just the beginning.

If your young musician is ready for more moments like this, more music, more friendships, more growth, more stage lights - CYSO is waiting. 🎻🎺

🎶 Summer Camp is officially in full swing with CYSO, and the music is everywhere!

From rehearsals in every room to melodies making their way through the hallways, our campers have been learning, growing, creating, and making music together all week long. 🎻🎺🥁

And now it’s almost time to hear what they’ve been working on! ✨

Join us Friday, August 7th at 6 PM at Annapolis Area Christian School for a live performance featuring our incredible CYSO campers and celebrating everything they’ve accomplished this week.

We can’t wait to see you there! 🎶👏
