🎼 Concerto Competition 2026–2027

Are you an AYPO musician ready to take the stage as a soloist? This is your chance to compete for the opportunity to perform a concerto movement with your orchestra at the final concerts of the season.

The competition is open to musicians from Concert, Symphonic, and Philharmonic Orchestra.

🎥 Round 1: Preliminary video submission

🎼 Round 2: Live final round

Up to 4 musicians from each full orchestra will advance to the final round

A live jury will select the winner

🎵 Repertoire: Choose one movement from a concerto or other published work for soloist with orchestral accompaniment. Your selection must be approved by your conductor and meet the competition's length and orchestration requirements.

📅 Important Dates

Application Due: October 15, 2026 by 11:59 PM

Repertoire Approval: October 21, 2026

Video Deadline: November 11, 2026 by 11:59 PM

Finalists Announced: December 9, 2026

Live Final & Winners Chosen: January 13, 2027

AYPO’s Senior Division features three orchestras: American Youth Philharmonic, Symphonic Orchestra, and Sinfonietta. Each gives high school musicians the chance to challenge themselves, grow as musicians, and perform exciting orchestral repertoire throughout the season.

🎶 Meet the ensembles of AYPO! 🎶

AYPO is home to five unique ensembles: Percussion, Flute, Harp, Senior Chamber, and Junior Chamber. Each offers young musicians the opportunity to rehearse, perform, grow, and make music together throughout the season.

Most ensembles rehearse Monday evenings from September through May and perform 2–3 times during the year.
