To commemorate Juneteenth, from Wednesday, June 17 through Friday, June 19th, Spun will again donate 19% of sales revenue to the Detroit Justice Center!

The Detroit Justice Center’s mission is to assist in the work to reunite families torn apart by the carceral system, lift barriers to employment and housing, and strengthen communities by supporting small businesses and land trusts. They’re working to build a more equitable and just Detroit. This Juneteenth, Spun is supporting the DJC’s work to develop an ecosystem of organizations and individuals redistributing wealth in honor of Juneteenth to help carry forward the unfinished promise of abolition.

🤗 Exciting news! Shana of Shanalines Designs will be visiting Spun this summer!! Shana’s designs are smart, adaptable, and FUN; they range from garments to home goods to toys! We are super happy to welcome her!

🧶 First, on July 30th, Shana will teach her Modular Bento Bag, a clever, seamless construction built of fun stripes (optional) and garter stitch. These bags mix knitting with geometry to great & useful result!
🧶 Next up on the 30th is the Textured Marble Fidget Toy. This is a small project where you can try out double knitting AND play with marbles! How often do those come together?? (Many of you have seen the Pea Pod Marble Fidget Toy at the check out counter, that’s also one of Shana’s designs!)
🧶 Then, on the 31st, Modular Knit Bowls will be the focus. Another modular construction, this time with shaping to create a vessel! Think of the variety of ways to apply your creativity here! Shana will talk about that in class too!

🚨 New yarn alert: Fior di Lino, by mYak! Fior di Lino is a cushy fi*****ng weight blend of Tibetan wool, yak, and linen that will manage to be lofty and to drape well at a soft gauge (near 6sts/1”). And look at the colors! 😍 We’re thinking Sari Nordlund’s new Hey Love Tee or Kiyomi Burgin’s, Heya Tank would be excellent in Fior di Lino, but which color??
