Two Tarot Visions: Art of Garin Horner & Christine Reising

Join us upstairs in the Crazy Wisdom Bookstore Art Gallery on July 11th from 5:30-8:00 PM for our July Artists of the Month opening reception and gallery talk, featuring two tarot card collections built through entirely different processes; photography and printmaking.
✨
Garin Horner’s Crowley-Waite Victorian Tarot reimagines the Rider-Waite-Colman-Smith tradition through photorealistic composites of vintage cabinet card portraits and 19th-century landscapes. Christine Reising’s Wonder Workers major arcana series began as monotype prints exploring mystics and healers, sparked by a chance discovery in a Lyon cemetery.

5:30-7:00 PM: Opening Reception
7:00-8:00 PM: Gallery Talk, “The Art of Making Tarot Cards”; a behind-the-scenes conversation on how tarot decks get conceived, built, and brought to life. Whether you’re newly curious about tarot or deep into your own deck-making practice, this talk offers real workflows and creative strategies you can take home.

This deck honors the classic artwork originally drawn in 1909 by Pamela Colman-Smith, brought to life with new illustrations by artist Kasheera Hickson. She has also created the Mahogany Tarot World Edition, celebrating cultures from around the world 🌍

💫 Looking for a sweet gift? We have so many lovely little treasures in the shop like these sweet dishes made by ceramicist Brittaini Pulver!
Brittaini Pulver is a Columbus, Ohio-based ceramic artist whose passion for ceramics began in high school. For the past 22 years, she has taught art in Columbus City Schools, bringing the same creativity to her classroom that she channels into her own work. Her art is characterized by a love of experimentation with texture, pattern, and themes drawn from the natural world.
Artist Statement: “Ceramics can teach you a lot about personal growth; patience, letting go, and acceptance. I also love the connection I feel when working with clay, because you are literally pushing, pulling, and stretching the Earth into a more permanent form.”
