Mantras for Healing and Compassion: A Buddhist Mantra Chanting Workshop
Thursday September 24, 6:00–8:00pm

Mantra is a word we hear everywhere these days: on yoga mats, coffee cups, laptop stickers. But where did these sounds actually come from, and what were they meant to do?
Join Dr. Ujeed for an experiential evening exploring the ancient roots of mantra practice, including Om Mani Padme Hum, one of the most beloved mantras in Tibetan and Mongolian Buddhist tradition. Dr. Ujeed has spent years collecting melodies for meditative recitation directly from Buddhist teachers across Tibet, the Himalayas, and Mongolia, and will guide us in chanting some of these mantras as they have been sung for centuries.
We’ll explore what these mantras mean, how they’re used in meditation, and what they offer for healing and mental wellbeing. No chanting experience necessary, just an open heart and a willingness to try.
This is also a charity fundraiser for the Chamba Animal Care Center in Ladakh. Donations are encouraged but never expected.

On August 26, a major flash flood struck Nepal, leaving families without homes and communities searching for missing loved ones. The scale of loss is hard to put into words.
Base Camp Restaurant & The Himalayan Bazaar family have organized a relief effort, and we wanted to share it with our community.
