Flying Frog Creations Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Independent Artist Flying Frog Creations is a small business in Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor Area by local artist Kimberly Mertz.

Each ceramic work is sculpted with handbuilding and/or wheel-thrown ceramic techniques. The pieces are fired at a local studio and then the detail work begins! Kim draws the composition on in pencil as a guide, and then carefully paints on vibrant underglazes in intricate and playful designs. Clear glaze is often applied to seal the piece and make the colors stand out, and then they are ready to use and enjoy! Ms Mertz grew up in the woods and she has spent decades looking at flowers and creatures in an up close and personal sort of way. She loves to add favorite elements she sees in nature to her designs, and has spent time crafting detailed items out of other mediums (like gorgeous fairy doors out of polymer clay) that combine her love of nature and whimsey.
