It is with a heavy heart that Ann Arbor Ballet Theatre announces the loss of our beloved director, mentor, and friend, Carol Radovic on Tuesday January 4th 2022.
Under Carol's tutelage, her ballet students learned and practiced the proper Vaganova technique - something she took very seriously. However, class was often filled with life lessons and memorable anecdotes. These are the moments that cultivated a unique environment and a safe place to dream big. She choreographed her ballets but also helped choreograph the lives of her many dancers in her 40 year career by supporting her students endeavors both in and outside of dance.
Her productions of The Nutcracker and many other ballets were magic both on and off of the stage. She knew how to choreograph the steps with the music in a way that was adored by both the dancers and the spectators alike.
Her gorgeous hand decorated tutus and tiaras were an honor to wear as well as a wonder to look at! One of her tiaras even adorned the White House Christmas tree! Her creativity and artistic spirit was second to none.
Beyond ballet, Carol took great pleasure in creating beauty and magic in other areas of her life. She enchanted all while entertaining in her flowering gardens - filled with faeries, arbors, swings and libations to share; a generous and welcoming place for all of her friends and dancers. She also wrote beautiful stories, pulling inspiration from the children and environment she was immersed in.
Carol also adored her animal friends. She spent a great deal of time with her beloved Labrador Retrievers, endlessly loving and spoiling them.
Her passion for politics and medicine must be mentioned too. She was a protector and advocate for those without a voice.
We will miss her enthusiasm for life, her passion for classical ballet, her love for animals and an imagination that always surprised us! But mostly, we will miss her love, wisdom and direction in life. Because “life is big” ❤️
Rest in Power Dear Carol
