Our lives and bodies are undeniably interwoven with the earth, and the earth is undeniably interwoven with the heavens. This is not a far-fetched theory or new-age mumbo jumbo but a truth that has a practical impact on our lived experience. We are in a time of big collective shadow work - the state of our governments drives this home, the state of our climate drives this home, and the state of our very own communities and liberation movements drives this home. It only follows that global concerns and issues would benefit from global perspective and answers.
Astrology is the ancient art and science of understanding how the movement of the heavens impacts life on Earth. Knowledge of the movement of the stars and planets can offer not only a better understanding of our current context, where we are on (as Grace Lee Boggs would say) the “world clock”, but practical direction. In our time together, we will explore foundational astrological teachings, current planetary placements, and how the stars move in our lives and bodies, through a liberation and somatic lens.

We make medicine - with plants. Beautiful and effective medicine.
And we grow medicine.
And teach people to make their own medicine, learning together, whether they can pay to learn or not.
We gratefully send medicines out into the world - into the hands and kitchens of so many beautiful people because it’s something we can do. Something practical. According to the World Health Organization, 80% of the world’s population still uses traditional plant medicine as its primary healthcare. We need our medicines and our relationship with our Earth if we are to thrive.
As a community, we also “encourage” people who can pay, people who were born into access to dollars (and houses, and healthcare, and…) to make it easier for people who can’t pay to be in the circle - to remember that it’s our job to care for our communities.
We stretch and practice in community - in gardens, and kitchens, in prayer circles, and healing circles. We practice being together and loving each other well across all the lines that would otherwise keep us small, hopeless, and without.
Some call it economic redistribution - because it is - but it’s also more - because “wealth” is not just money. That notion actually infuriates me. I grew up at times with no house, no shoes, no food - but with such deep and real wealth. These systems are still trying to steal this wealth, but real wealth is unstoppable - it grows because we share it.
These ways are older - we do what our ancestors did, and what everyone in my neighborhood did. We give from what we have. We lean in and remember each other. We KNOW we are each other’s only hope and real solutions because we have never operated under the illusion that presiding systems will save us or that they give a s*^t.
Relationships are our wealth - with each other, our ancestors, and the whole wide Family of Creation. WE are our wealth.

It's obvious to all of us that the ways of this here colonial culture are deeply draining and that's no accident - if we are tired, depleted, or isolated from each other, we won't rebel or redirect. It's also very obvious that we desperately need rebellion and imaginative redirection. So join us in this evocative and dreamy re-seeing of our world.
Seriously, people, my second-grade granddaughter can see how the systems that we live with were put in place to stop us from even recognizing our bodily needs - let alone our soul's calling. "Why is there a shorter list of when we are allowed to even go to the bathroom than when we are not?" Grandma "Good question honey, let's talk about how our educational systems were put in place during the Industrial Revolution to make us into unquestioning workers." But we are NOT automatons - we were not made to fulfill a profit for the few. Nor should our children be burdened with the consequences of the global climate crisis - we NEED to reimagine - stepping out of what IS is a legitimate emergency. Community nurturance can reconnect us with our true collective potential! Radical Nurturance is a sacred space for reimagining - with an amazing crew of artists, healers, activists, and cultural change-makers - join us as we step outside of time, loosen the grip of false mandates, and reimagine together. In this series of virtual gatherings we will lay to rest lying stories we hold inside of us, and open to authentic and practical emergent possibilities.
Through dream entry/meditation, creative process, hands-on activities, somatic exercises, and wakeful conversation we will seek out not only the world we long for, but our distinct places in it.
Remembering to recenter the absolute need for nurturance is revolutionary. There is an outright and honestly violent dismissal of the value of nurturance in this world that is causing all kinds of harm - to the people, to our movements, and to the earth. We get tricked - in our lives and in our movements - into moving the pieces around within systems that are designed to exhaust and destroy us - but following the thread of nurturance opens us to possibilities beyond.
The soil is the culture from which all things grow, and just as we need healthy soil to grow healthy food and ecosystems, we need the soil of a healthy culture in which our bodies, souls, communities, and dream seeds can thrive. Come, reimagine the culture with us in ways that offer freedom and restoration!

There is a direct link between supporting regeneration of the earth and reimagining human culture.
As humanity is the only species pushing the planet out of balance, and not all human cultures do this, we know that our choices and lifestyles have an impact on the earth. We have to take collective responsibility for this and redirect collective impact. As individual people and human communities heal and deepen connection with the earth, it empowers us to lead more balanced and conscious lives. This in turn, helps us to make healthier and less consumptive choices, to feel a sense of belonging, participate actively in regeneration, and to recognize that our healing as a species and the healing of the earth are intertwined.
At True Earth we hold a sincere collective dream and intention of protecting land and demonstrating harmonious co-existence between human beings and the rest of creation. While we have been at intergenerational, nature-based community building since 1990, we have a lot of work to do to pull off this dream. Including continually educating our community about how to protect land and demonstrate regenerative culture in ways that are respectful of Indigenous leadership, communities, land trusts, and treaties. We are continually working to be part of the solution and to help dismantle, not perpetuate, systems of oppression.
Throughout 2019 we have been laying to rest our previous structure as an organization and giving our attention to birthing something new. We draw upon our deep roots and decades of experience as we also welcome change. We are super excited to align our offerings more closely with our values and core intentions of cultural and ecological regeneration. In order to turn this beautiful ship called earth around, we genuinely need all hands on deck. There is no time to waste. We have been spending the year imagining, cultivating, and preparing offerings for everyone. This is for you, our beloved community, and for the earth herself, as she is our primary love. While we continue with our commitment to protected space for sisters and sibs (trans inclusive community), and tweens and teens in our youth programming, we now also offer more explicit stuff for families with children of all ages, as well as awesome options for the brothers among us. We are much more explicitly centering ecological regeneration and education through our habitat design and training in bioregional herbalism. We have a wide range of ways to connect: from super short and less intensive, “What the hell is this stuff about anyway?” type of offerings, to in-depth programming for people who actually want to shape their lives around a nature-based path.
THIS is what we’ve been up to! And while we have so much more to tell you about our mission, our team, advisory council and detailed vision and plans for the future…. for now, our offerings will have to speak for themselves. We look forward to rolling out more info over the season and hope you will join us for a new year and a beautiful evolution.
