Streamlining some creative things for 2025!

I am closing both my Zazzle and Etsy shops. Between AI in POD shops and the allowance on Etsy of items beyond just handmade goods, I am focusing on my own website: ccreechstudio.com

Please feel free to check there for updates. If you have any requests for commissions or handmade gifts, feel free to send me a PM!

Recent fun! I have been playing around with some acrylic paint leaf prints this fall. Love how they capture the texture and detail. I want to add some ink work to these as well.

And some traditional botanical sketching at a meet-up with another artist friend this weekend. Cotton plant seed pods are really fascinating!

The cardinal flower is finished! Lobelia cardinalis is native to North and South America and is found in wetlands, swamps and meadows. It blooms midsummer to early fall. This was done in ink and colored pencil on Strathmore smooth Bristol paper.

Finished inking and am on to layering leaf color! I use Faber-Castell polychromos pencils and start with some light layers of yellow glaze and light green. I move on to modeling the shapes with some darker greens, adding deeper shadows with chrome green opaque. Since I am in leaf-mode, I will finish these before moving on to the flowers.

Getting close to inking! The cardinal flower portrait is coming together nicely. But first, I am going to switch gears and start planning the next wildflower portrait, do some rough sketches, get it into my brain. I want to have another started so that when I get into finishing the first, I don’t have to start from scratch in the next one. Helps the momentum. Do you have a similar approach or do you prefer to go start to finish on one piece before planning another?
