Day 5 at Zookeeper Camp – Week 1 Complete!
What an incredible way to wrap up our first week of Zookeeper Camp!
Today our campers had the opportunity to show off everything they learned this week by giving their families tours of the facility. It was amazing watching them confidently share animal facts, explain what they’ve learned, and introduce parents to many of the animals they spent the week caring for and learning about.
One of the biggest highlights of the day was feeding crocodiles with their families. There were plenty of excited smiles, nervous laughs, and unforgettable memories as campers got to share this unique experience with the people who support them every day.
Throughout the week, our campers learned about reptiles, birds, tortoises, animal care, enrichment, habitats, and what it takes to be a real zookeeper. They cleaned enclosures, prepared food, met amazing animals, played games, completed journal activities, made scrapbook memories, and got their hands dirty doing the work that comes with caring for wildlife.
A huge thank you to the DiIorio family and DiIorio Farms in Hempstead for donating fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the week. The campers loved helping prepare treats for our animals, and our tortoises, pigs, and other residents certainly appreciated the fresh snacks.
Another special thank you goes to Two Peas Creations for creating our custom camp shirts. The campers were so excited to have personalized shirts with their names on the back, and they looked fantastic all week long.
Most importantly, thank you to all of our camp families for trusting us with your children. Watching their confidence grow throughout the week has been the best part of camp. We hope they made memories that will last a lifetime.
Week 1 is officially in the books, and we can’t wait to do it all again next week!
