Happy Independence Day from Strates Shows and the E. James Strates Family! 🇺🇸 Let’s never take our freedom for granted and always remember to celebrate the precious gift of independence. Today and every day, we give our heartfelt thanks to the brave men and women who fight to protect the freedoms we hold dear. From Our Archives: A legendary name in the outdoor amusement business, the famous Strates Shows carnival midway was once synonymous with fairs and family fun in Northwest South Carolina. The Strates Family first began providing the rides, games and concessions to the Anderson Fair in the mid-1940s. In 1978, the Show returned to the Fair to begin a 29-year run as the event’s midway provider. From 1982 to 2007, Strates Shows owned & operated the Anderson County Fair & Expo Center grounds on Williamston Road until the family sold the property to facilitate the growth and expansion of Anderson College South Carolina. After a 17-year absence, Strates Shows returned to Anderson for the Anderson Fall Carnival as a result of the hurricane related cancellation of the Georgia-Carolina Fair in Augusta, GA.
