Hey y’all, long time no see. I wanted to share some relevant updates and honest musings with y’all, mostly to let you know we’re still here, but also to clue y’all in on where we’re at and what’s to come. We want to maintain our connection with y’all as a community, as that is the cornerstone of what Grass Roots is all about. It’s a tough time right now in many ways, and no less so for live music. We held out hope that we could make Grass Roots 2020 happen, but as the pandemic dragged on it became clear that that wasn’t in the cards. But while we’re deeply saddened by the toll it’s taken on the world, it’s given us a much needed break to regroup. The first two years of GR were great, but they kicked our ass too. The whole idea for the fest was ambitious to begin with, and pulling it off involved a steep learning curve. It was rewarding in so many ways, but it’s hard to put into words how exhausting and downright demoralizing it was at times also. But our hope was to show the world what great roots music talent there is here in Northern California, and to strengthen the community of artists and fans that make such a rich music experience possible. In that, I think we were mostly successful. We’re extremely grateful for everyone who’s participated so far, by performing, volunteering, vending, sponsoring or attending. We’re starting to look at what GRMF 2021 could look like; we’ll definitely be doing some things differently, and will factor in safety concerns regarding COVID, but the overall feel of truly being part of something special will remain. We’ll keep y’all in the loop on that. In the meantime, we’ll be rolling out some other projects to keep us connected and our spirits high. Keep an eye out for that too. Happy holidays, and please be safe - we want to see y’all alive next year. ❤️ ...
