Indiana | Deputy Arrested for DUI

Deputy Evan Luigs, Vanderburgh County, was arrested Feb. 8, 2026, for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated, marking his second alcohol-related incident in just over a year.

• Incident occurred at 11:37 a.m. near North U.S. Highway 41 and Ruffian Way; two-vehicle collision, no injuries reported

• Deputies and Indiana State Police observed signs of impairment: bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, strong odor of alcohol, and abnormal behavior

• Luigs refused field sobriety tests and declined chemical testing at the scene and at the jail

• Charges: Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated, Refusal to Submit to Breath Test, Failure to Yield Right of Way

• Previously suspended 15 days in 2024 for two alcohol-related policy violations

• Sheriff Noah Robinson is seeking termination via the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Merit Board; Luigs is suspended 15 workdays without pay pending a public hearing.
