Highway 89 through Lassen Volcanic National Park is open! Many trails at higher elevations are still snow-covered and the Bumpass Hell Trail remains closed. Prepare for winter conditions if you plan to hike. https://www.nps.gov/lavo/planyourvisit/hours.htm

It’s Bike Month, and few places make you want to keep pedaling quite like Redding. From riverside rides through town to mountain climbs with views in Lassen, there’s no shortage of roads, trails, and overlooks worth chasing.

Lassen Volcanic National Park’s highway is now open for spring adventures before it opens to cars. 🚴‍♂️🌲

For a limited time during snow clearing operations, visitors can walk, run, or bike sections of the scenic park road while enjoying rare, car-free access through the park. Leashed pets are also welcome on snow-free portions of the roadway.

Road crews are actively working, so visitors should use caution while exploring closed sections of the highway.
