Andalusia's own Marianne Weber (Marianne Merrill Moates Weber) was interviewed today about her new play, "Traveling with Truman and Nelle," currently in production by the Wetumpka Depot Players. Andalusians will remember that she also wrote "Ladies of the Jury" about our own history. This fall, we also will produce another of her plays, "Casseroles."

Author Marianne Weber has a new play about Truman Capote and Nelle Harper Lee traveling to Kansas to interview the murderers of a farm family for the book, "In Cold Blood."

Andalusia’s own Marianne Merrill Moates Weber (Marianne Weber) wrote this play currently in production by the Wetumpka Depot Players. Marianne also is the author of the book, “Truman Capote’s Southern Years,” from her family association and living many years in Monroeville.

ReAct previously produced her “Ladies of the Jury,” based on Andalusia history of having seated the first women on a jury here, and has another of her plays, “Casseroles,” slated for fall.

One writer gave us To Kill a Mockingbird. The other gave us In Cold Blood.

Before either book became part of America’s literary canon, they were simply Harper Lee and Truman Capote—childhood friends navigating ambition, loyalty, and one extraordinary journey together.

The world premier of Marianne Weber’s, Traveling with Truman and Nelle imagines that journey with humor, heart, and humanity.

Come discover the friendship behind two of the most influential books ever written.
