As we close the doors this weekend, we’ve been thinking about how amazing it’s been for Dancers to show up for their studio, telling stories about what they love about their classes and teachers. It reminds us why community is important. And why we do these kinds of events. 💕 thank you Alaska Dance Theatre we’ve had a blast. And we hope your dancers did too!

Celebrate a day of dance with internationally recognized, Winifred Haun & Dancers, presented in partnership with Alaska Dance Theatre and Momentum Dance Collective!

✨Join us for workshops in contemporary dance, explore composition & choreography with the company, and enjoy a free afternoon community performance and artist conversation. Workshop registration is required. 🚨The afternoon performance and Q&A are free and open to the public -no registration necessary.

Class Descriptions

⭐️11:00 - Contemporary Dance Technique
This class will combine the best of the foundational techniques (Graham, Horton, and ballet), and incorporate fluid floor work, across the floor combinations, and improvisational exercises. We’ll work with the breath, the use of gravity, and the connection between mind and body.

⭐️12:45 to 2:45 - Contemporary Dance Making
Expanding on class technique, we’ll explore how to use improvisation and structure to build new dances. We’ll take phrases you already know or love and Company repertory, and show you how to add an arc or personal story to your dance. And then, if you’re comfortable, we can add the work we create to the Sharing at 3:00

⭐️3:00 - 4:30pm The Sharing
The Sharing will include a few works from Company repertory, phrases from the Dance Making Workshop, and other works by local dance artists.

Everyone is invited to stay for the sharing. No need to present your work; you can simply stay and watch!
