A little more than three years ago, 100+ Women Who Care Anchorage saved ATY from closing its doors. Last night, the ladies have done it again, but this time in reverse. They are helping us OPEN our doors to our first ever ATY home - not shared space, not in risk of falling down, not slated for demolition - a real, beautiful, welcoming space worthy of the ATY family and community we serve.

In just 8 minutes 100+ women are changing the trajectory of organizations right here, in their local community. We highly encourage you to check out your local chapter of 100+ Women Who Care and…. kids, this isn’t just for adults! Check out Youth Philanthropists Alaska!!! Their next meeting is Monday, September 14, 6:30-7:30pm at the BP Energy Center. With just $10 you can have a big impact in helping your community too!!! We will put a link in the comments to RSVP!

THANK YOU 100+ Women AND Rasmuson Foundation!!!!!!!!! We are still in shock! 😜

Congratulations to …..
Alaska Theatre of Youth for being selected tonight as our Fall 2026 nonprofit recipient! 🎭

🎭 Alaska Theatre of Youth – is a non-profit working with to build skills that ignites creativity, confidence, and collaboration through the performing arts: providing a welcoming and inclusive community for self-expression and personal growth, where youth discover their unique potential. Specifically, our collective donation will support much-needed renovations to the theater, creating a safer, more comfortable, and welcoming space for both youth and their parents to enjoy.

We also heard from the other two randomly drawn nonprofits —Victims for Justice and Alaska Veterans Museum - also two amazing organizations!

Additionally, we received an update from our Summer 2026 recipient, Forget Me Not Grief Center, on their growing program and how they are using our donation.

Big thank you’s go to Linda Benson for sponsoring the delicious appetizers and the The Lakefront Anchorage for being a venue co-sponsor, and to Rachel Bunnell/Baird Financial for being our venue co-sponsor. We thank the Rasmuson Foundation for the generous matching grants over the next year to non-profit recipients totaling $50,000. We also want to thank Assets Printing for printing our "big" checks, and to Carla Wight, Laile Fairbairn, Julie Vincek, and Diane Mucha for the thoughtful and delicious door prizes. Because of all of you, 100% of our chapter donations go directly to our non-profits! We appreciate you so much!

Thank you to all who have donated at the meeting tonight and through Grapevine.org. For those of you who still need to donate, you can use Grapevine for autopay or send a check made out to:

AUDITION UPDATES & FAQ’s!!!!

A few more spots have opened up for in-person auditions! Also Waitlist spots are now available! If you no longer plan to audition, please delete your signup to open the slot for someone else.

TOP 10 AUDITION QUESTIONS WE’VE RECEIVED:

1) Do you have to bring a jump rope? If you’ve got one you like, bring it! Otherwise we will have some for use.

2) Do you need to learn the dance combo beforehand? Why not? Can only help you! It is available on the LB audition page. It will also be taught at auditions.

3) Can we do a monologue of our own choosing? Yes.

4) If I am auditioning for Founders Keepers do I need to do the dance? No.

5) Will Founders, Keepers and LB rehearsals conflict? Not if we can help it.

6) I can’t be at rehearsal on ……… can I still audition for the show? Yes. List your conflicts and let the director decide if they are not going to work.

7) The audition materials say “an upbeat song” - can I do a slow song? We would advise against it.

8) The audition materials say “one minute” for song/monologue, can I do something longer than one minute? Figure out a way to get your monologue/song as close to 1 min as possible while still keeping the juicy bits you’d like to showcase. Be ready for the creative team to cut you off, and remember, it’s not personal.

9) Do I have to slate? Yes, please. “My name is ________, I am ____ years old. I’ll be singing _______ and my monologue is ______.” Do NOT include what part you’d like to be considered for.

10) Am I old enough for this show? Founders, Keepers is open to ages 10+. Legally Blonde, JR is open to ages 12-18.

BONUS QUESTIONS:
11) Can I send a video audition? YES. See ATY audition page on our website! https://www.alaskatheatreofyouth.org/auditions

12) Do I have to audition in front of everyone? Singing/Mono auditions are individual. Dance audition is in a group.

13) Can I come to the dance call even if I don’t have an in-person audition slot sign-up? Yes. If you’d rather dance in person, come to a dance call on Friday at 7pm or Saturday at 2:45pm.

ABOUT THE SHOW

Based on the award-winning Broadway musical and the smash hit motion picture, Legally BlondeThe Musical JR. is a fabulously fun journey of self-empowerment and expanding horizons. The show's instantly recognizable songs are filled with humor, wit and sass — leaving cast members and audiences alike seeing pink!

Legally Blonde JR. follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. When Elle's boyfriend, Warner, dumps her and heads to Harvard, claiming she's not "serious" enough, Elle takes matters into her own hands, crafting a showy song-and-dance personal essay and charming her way into law school. Befriending classmate, Emmett, and spunky hairdresser, Paulette, along the way, Elle finds that books and looks aren't mutually exclusive. As Elle begins outsmarting her peers, she realizes that law may be her natural calling after all.

Legally Blonde JR. features large, energetic dance numbers with an expandable cast of sorority sisters, law school students, hairdressers and more.
