August Bike Tour - this Wednesday and Thursday. Join us this week for our last Summer Social of the season!

This summer we introduced ADF’s Summer Socials – three months of outdoor events that invite you to walk, wander, and wheel through our Alaskan cities as we uncover hidden potential and celebrate what already works.

AUGUST BIKE* TOUR:
Do our cities look different via bicycle? These tours will be utilizing bicycles to explore our cities. They will start and stop, with frequent discussions as to what we are seeing and experiencing.

Join us tonight for a special presentation by Carson Chan, Architecture & Design Curator at MoMA The Museum of Modern Art

Carson Chan is the inaugural Director of the Emilio Ambasz Institute for the Joint Study of the Built and Natural Environment, and a Curator in the Museum’s Department of Architecture and Design. He develops, leads, and implements the Ambasz Institute’s manifold research initiatives through a range of programs, including exhibitions, public lectures, conferences, seminars, and publications. Before joining MoMA in 2021, he worked as an architecture writer, curator, and educator. In 2006 he cofounded PROGRAM, a project space and residency program in Berlin that tested the disciplinary boundaries of architecture through exhibition making.

JOIN US THIS WEEK!

Our last lecture before the holidays, join us for a talk from renowned Cuban-American designer and illustrator, CARLOS ZAMORA. He is also the Chief Creative Officer and founder of the branding agency, CARTEL.

Zamora’s award-winning illustrations have been published in The New York Times, Time Magazine, Scholastics, New York Observer, The Boston Globe, Advertising Age, American Lawyer, and The Wall Street Journal. Zamora earned his Bachelor of Arts from Havana Design Institute (ISDI), Cuba’s premier design school, in 2000.

A father, an author and educator, Zamora is also a former President of AIGA St. Louis. He currently serves as a board member for Lambert International Airport Art Advisory Committee and the Tennessee Williams Festival.

He cherishes a fondness for poster design, Russian cartoons, propaganda art and ci**rs. He has received the CommArts Award of Excellence 2017, 2018 and 2019 in the categories of Illustration and Typography.

His work has been featured in the Society of Illustrators, 3X3 Magazine and Creative Quarterly. His poster for Cinco de Mayo in Cherokee Street made it to Los Diez, the top ten latino illustrations of the Year by American Illustration. He is currently looking for publishers for his most recent picture book The Forest Within.
