Hear Hear!
One of my favourite reader interactions ever was at a Boy Scout camp here in Alaska. I had a couple boxes of my books in the back seat of my truck and mentioned free books to the staff there for anyone.
One of the staffers was a young man who had just gotten out of the US Marine Corps that spring, having completed his 4 year tour of duty. When he saw my books 65 BELOW and ICE HAMMER he took one and goes,
"I read these! Your books went around our barracks at Camp Lejuene."
To think that a whole platoon (30ish Marines), maybe even company (100ish Marines) shared my book around, probably got the first copies free as well, and this guy out of no where in Alaska for the summer job not only recognized them but read four of my titles left more than a few wiggly-jiggly happies in my smile.
