UAA Department of Theatre & Dance UAA Department of Theatre and Dance The theatre and dance BA major and minor programs at UAA were eliminated by the UA Board of Regents in June 2020.

Offers a balanced educational experience within a liberal arts curriculum stressing artistic excellence while emphasizing the theoretical foundations of theatre, dance, and the arts. We are still operating as a department while we teach out the remaining students in our programs. As of Fall 2023, the only program offered at UAA will be an occupational endorsement certificate in event production. There is no current plan to bring back the major or minor.

Calling all middle school students interested in dance! Come join our week-long summer camp running from June 8-12, 2026. Campers will get to learn multiple dance styles and perform in a small showcase at the end of the week. No dance experience necessary. We hope to see you there!

We are so excited to have Elizabeth Sugawara coming to visit UAA next week! She will be working with our classes and hosting a movement workshop open to the community. Come dance and learn from Elizabeth next weekend! Address is 550 E 33rd Avenue. No registration required, we will let people in until the studio is full!

It’s GIVING DAY!!! Consider giving to UAA Theatre and Dance from now until 1pm on March 26th.

We only need 10 donations of any amount to receive $2,500 from Mary K Hughes. We think we can accept that challenge, but we need your help!

Go to givingday.alaska.edu and select excellence in theater and dance to share your donation. All funds go directly to supporting UAA students with scholarships, guest artist residencies, performances, and guest teachers!

Your support helps build up the next generation of artists in Alaska, and we couldn’t be more thankful for anything you can give!
