Jefferson & Oldham County Youth Community Service Band

Jefferson & Oldham County Youth Community Service Band This band was created in 2010 by Sandy Duffy with the ambition of bringing young people together to serve their community through music.

Each Spring, the group performs at various residential homes and assisted living facilities around the community.

This evening we returned to St. Luke's Episcopal Church for our second rehearsal of the season. We were thrilled to welcome 16 students, some returning and some new. With the exception of our small high school Christmas outing, last Monday was the first time many of these students had been together since March 2020! After nearly a two year hiatus, the band sounds pretty remarkable! We will be delighted to welcome new members through the month of February. Please help spread the word to all 6-12th grade band students and feel free to message us with any questions.

In early December, the high school students of the band were privileged to perform a Christmas concert at the Mount Washington branch of Sunrise Children's Services (Kentucky). The facility is currently home to approximately 20 adolescent males. Before the concert, our students enjoyed sharing a meal, decorating Christmas cookies, and playing games with the residents. We hope to return to Sunrise in the Spring!
