A safer, more accessible downtown starts with the streets around it. 🏙️

The Anchorage Metropolitan Area Transportation Solutions (AMATS) Policy Committee will meet on August 20 to consider adding the full reconstruction of 5th and 6th Avenues to the 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan.

Adding the project to the plan would be an important step toward securing funding and advancing the reconstruction.

These two downtown corridors have endured years of deferred maintenance. Reconstruction would provide an opportunity to improve roadways, sidewalks, lighting, signals, and accessibility throughout the area. 🛣️

This matters for the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, too! 5th and 6th Avenue are the streets many of our patrons use to reach the PAC, and improved infrastructure can make travel easier and more accessible for everyone. ♿️

We support moving this project forward and encourage our community to support adding the reconstruction of 5th and 6th Avenues to the 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan.
