Mrs. Claus and the Santa Sparkles
High above the snowy rooftops of the North Pole, Mrs. Claus woke up to a most unusual sound. A giant P**F! Bang! Followed by a shower of beautiful and most colorful sparkles drifting past her window.
“Oh dear,” she sighed with a smile. “Santa must be testing sparkles again.”
Every year, just before Christmas, Santa tried out new sparkly magic to make sure the reindeer trail shone bright and the presents twinkled just right. But this year, Santa had a big idea, bigger than ever before!
He wanted to create extra-special Northern Lights to bring Christmas cheer to families far beyond the North Pole, especially the boys and girls in Minnesota, where winter nights could be long and chilly.
Mrs. Claus stepped into the workshop just as Santa lifted a glowing jar labeled:
Super Sparkle Starlight Sprinkle
“Santa,” she warned gently, “remember what happened last time you tested sparkles indoors?”
Santa rubbed his beard. “The reindeer sparkled for a whole week?”
“And the elves sparkled for two whole weeks!,” she reminded him.
But Santa twinkled with excitement. “This one is new! I mixed in peppermint dust and a pinch of midnight snow. I think it’s just right for Minnesota’s sky!”
Before Mrs. Claus could answer, Santa opened the jar.
KA-WHOOOOSH!
A swirl of shimmering light shot upward, bursting out of the chimney like a rainbow rocket.
Mrs. Claus and Santa hurried outside. The sparkles rushed across the night sky, zooming and swirling like playful fireflies.
They drifted south… farther… farther… until Mrs. Claus gasped.
“Santa! Look!” she said, pointing at his magical snow globe that showed places all over the world.
In the snowy little towns of Minnesota, children were looking out their windows with wide, amazed eyes.
Across Minneapolis and Duluth, over frozen lakes and quiet farms, the sparkles stretched into big ribbons of red, green, blue, purple and pink.
Northern Lights. Santa’s very own, freshly made Northern Light Sparkles danced over Minnesota.
Santa beamed. “It worked, Mrs. Claus! The sparkles brought joy all the way to Minnesota!”
Mrs. Claus gave his hand a squeeze. “It did more than that,” she said softly.
“It made Christmas magic where children needed it most.”
The sparkles slowly faded, but the joy they made stayed warm in every heart.
And every year after, whenever the Northern Lights glowed over Minnesota, the children there would say:
“Santa must be testing sparkles again.”
And Mrs. Claus, why… smiling from the North Pole…..always knew they were right. Santa does indeed test the most beautiful sparkles!
