KINUSAIGA - Also known as, FABRIC “MOSAIC PAINTING” BLOCK ART or Fabric Painting is a trending craft and art buzz on the continent and in other places around the world. We introduced it for the first time in Hawai'i for our Mahina Makers workshop in June.

Amazing things take time to grow! So we'll be offering Kinusaiga classes and workshops at Hale Līhu'e again on Sunday, July 26 and August 2 at the Anahola Marketplace.

I just finished the primary work of this piece here, depicting the beauty of Kē'ē at Hā'ena and a peek down the storied coast of Nāpali. Edges and backing will be worked on this week.

Absolutely no sewing is involved in the art of Kinusaiga! You'll be able to choose your design, which we'll sketch and carve your block in advance of the workshop. You'll choose your fabric and colors to create your fabric painting which involve cutting remnants and pieces of fabric which is tucked into the carved lines and groves of the block. All instruction, materials and supplies are included.

Very satisfying, relaxing and meditative! Joins us!

Celebrating the upcoming New Chinese Lunar Year at the Downtown Līhu’e Nite Market tonight with Aunty Evalani Lizama, an amazing craft artist who makes beautiful earrings and other unique handmade bling. Today is her birthday and she brought me chocolate dipped strawberries and roses. So sweet! Humbly awaiting the arrival of the Fire Horse in this new cycle of energy!
