Manetron built Mac Tonight and King Kong. Then they made human androids designed to work customer service desks with a real person hidden nearby speaking through them in real time. They cost twenty six thousand dollars in 1990.

A real animatronic T-Rex had two weeks of downtime between theme park gigs and someone wrote an entire movie around it. The script made him a robot in-universe so every awkward movement was technically on purpose. Genius or lazy, we still need to know where he ended up.

Twelve mannequins in school uniforms. Eyes lit up. Mouths open with something moving inside. Rising into the air together while a choir plays. This is as cool as it is unsettling.

Mini-Me from Austin Powers crawled inside a dog costume on all fours while a fully animatronic head moved on top of him. This was a real McDonald’s production in the 90s. The costume survived but sadly the animatronic head vanished.

McDonald’s actually made their own Chuck E. Cheese in the 90s and the result was a Ronald McDonald animatronic so terrifying that customers stopped going to the locations that had them. Only about five were ever made. One survived in perfect condition. One is rotting in a corner with completely white eyes.
